Are you thinking of enrolling your kids in dance classes? Well, there are a few things you should consider while shortlisting dance studios for kids.

1: The Class Size

Knowing the class size is important. You should have an estimate of how many children are learning together and if the number is adequate for effective learning. Further, some dance studios have really tiny spaces but are jam-packed with students. How do you expect your child to have a fruitful learning experience in such an environment? On the other hand, you might find some spacious dance studios which have a limited number of openings. Compare the scenarios in your mind, and think wise. Where will your child be able to learn better? Where will they have more attention from the dance instructor? Where will he/she develop exemplary dancing skills?

A spacious dance studio allows greater personalized experience, clarity of moves and thoughts, etc. The dance techniques are upbeat and are taught in the most efficient manner.

2: The Floor Type

Sounds weird. It’s not. Along with learning a new skill, it is important that your kid’s health stays a top priority. The floor type can affect the joints and bones of your kid since that is the landing area while dancing. While many dance studios have a foam landing, check for the floor type underneath too. You’ll often find cement flooring, which is anything but ideal for a dance studio. Marley floors are the best when it comes to dancing areas and studios. When visiting dance studios for kids, ask the studio staff about the flooring and how safe it is for your kid's health.

3: The Dance Instructor’s Qualification

Don’t judge a book by its cover. If a dance class has a well-equipped studio, it does not necessitate the fact that the dance instructors will be qualified. A knowledgeable teacher should have had years of training to perfect the skills that they now teach. It is only through training that they know the technicalities of a dance form, the nuances, the pressure points, etc. A dance instructor who knows their form and routine can teach it to others in an effortless manner. Therefore, it is crucial to verify the qualifications of the dance teacher.

4: The Fees

The fees vary, that’s obvious. Every dance studio has its fee structure, based on the number of classes, the schedule, the dance form, the instructor’s accreditations, etc. Often, you might have to pay an initial registration fee, after which there might be a monthly/ quarterly fee payment option.

Before you shortlist dance studios for kids, make sure whether your kid really wants to learn dancing. Also, have a clear idea if they are taking it up as a hobby or do they want to get serious with the routine.
