If you are a working professional looking to expand your employment options or pursue a career in academia or research, a part-time PhD is your best choice. You might pursue full-time employment and a part-time PhD to complete your doctorate. It takes between six and eight years to complete, as opposed to three to five years for a standard doctorate. While pursuing a part-time Ph.D. in India, you can work on your research thesis at your own speed as long as you maintain regular contact with your advisors and fellow doctoral students.

Part-Time PhD Eligibility

The applicant should have earned a master's degree from a reputable university or other institution with the minimum grade point average required by the school you are applying to.

In some Indian colleges, passing the UGC NET exam is a requirement for admission to the part-time Ph.D. in India program; other institutions may have entrance exams before the interview.

Candidates who want to pursue a part-time Ph.D. in India overseas must pass the GRE as well as language tests like the IELTS and TOEFL. A Statement of Purpose (SOP) is another document you must submit.

They must also submit a research proposal on their chosen area of study and Letters of Recommendation (LORs) from at least two former professors in order to be eligible for admission.

Before being allowed to register for the degree, all applicants must successfully complete a set of interviews.

How long does a part-time PhD take?

A part-time PhD in India will typically take twice as long to complete as a full-time one. The typical PhD in the UK takes three to four years to complete. For part-time students, six to eight years of study time is normal. However, it's not unheard of for some people to finish in just five years. The length of a part-time PhD mostly relies on how much time you can commit to research each week. However, if you are receiving financing, your donor will probably choose the course's duration for you.

How much does a part-time PhD cost?

In essence, the expense of a part-time PhD is the same as that of a full-time PhD; it is only spread out. Typically, annual tuition is half of what a full-time student would spend. Technically, you might technically pay slightly less overall for tuition because some students have worked hard enough to complete their final dissertation in five rather than six years.
