The number of bitcoins in existence cannot surpass 21 million because this is built into Bitcoin’s protocol. Satoshi Nakamoto implemented this supply limit to create scarcity, similar to precious metals like gold.
Satoshi claims that the last Bitcoin will be
mined in 2040...
The current rate is 900 per day .
There are only a million Bitcoin left...
That's 162 days...
3.1 years.
Satoshi assumes that the rate of mining
will slow as the financial rewards decrease
due to "halfings"
Computers don't care about financial rewards...
Did he ever hear of Quantum Computing ?
What if China or Google finds them all
before the next halfing ?
Watch.
