What is coinchat?

coinchat is a fun, friendly chat community with many new people to meet where you can gain mbtc for interesting conversation. It's not a faucet, it's a community with rewards.

How do I get mBTC here?

There are random rewards for constructive conversation (you can see these down the right hand side of the conversation, marked in green).  They shouldn't be the focus of the conversation. Rewards are given in #main (for general chat), #gaming (gaming related discussions) and #forum (which is heavily moderated) for meaningful conversation on interesting topics. People will be kicked for chit chat and filler talk in #forum and asked to go to #main. This is so that people having deeper discussions aren't interrupted.

Users can also tip each other if they wish but this shouldn't be requested. To tip, type: /tip [username] [amount] [optional-message]

We do not operate a whitelist at coinchat however we do operate an active blacklist for frequent low quality/spammy chat. This means that those placed on the blacklist will not be entitled to any rewards.

Pro tip: type the first few letters of someone's username and hit [tab] key, it will auto fill the rest for you :] e.g. ata[tab] will give you ataraxia. When your name appears, it is bold.

Pro tip: the /me command works at coinchat. you can type /me [message] to speak in the third person, which appears italicised.

What are +1s and Snaps?

+1s are purely for fun and are like upvotes or likes. You get a limited amount to give out each day and this increases the more you have received yourself.

The snap feature lets you add a webcam snapshot to your post, you need to 'allow' your browser to share the camera with the site and you're good to go! Don't  flood main with snaps, there is a dedicated room called #snaps for this as it can interrupt conversation flow of others.

Why do some people have little icons next their names and type in colour?

These are badges and can be bought in the Style button at the bottom of the page by the text box, along with text colours. These give each user their own identity and help support the site.

Policies/Rules

No begging, reflinks or advertising - This is a chat community for people to get to know one another, they don't like to be hit with requests or adverts.

No flooding/spamming - Some people’s posting styles involves posting multiple short lines rapidly. This is known as flooding, try to put more things in one line, as not to dominate the room.

Respect each other - even if you disagree or dislike them. Hate speech/racial slurs/creeping/rape culture/violence are not accetable.

Talk in English - because having a common language let’s everyone follow the conversation, and people are free to join/make their own rooms.

Talk via private message if it’s only relevant to one person - to allow everyone to follow the conversation in main, instead of shifting through unrelated stuff.

Don’t discuss NSFW content - because it can alienate users. Keep in mind that some people are at work and we have all ages visiting the site.

Don’t get into flame wars or very heated arguments - this doesn’t mean civil discussions or debate, which are different.
