Believe me when I say that I speak from experience! It's amazing how much of a difference good lighting can make.
I was thrilled to find a place for this light fixture after pinning it for years and always wanting to use it in my own home! I had intended to use this equally nice brass semi flush ceiling light that went with the room's subtle nautical theme; however, once installed (or rather, my father-in-law installed it), we realised the scale was off for the space—a it's huge room!
Of course, once we replaced the playroom light fixture, the front entry hall light needed to be replaced as well. The ugly brown semi flush mount ceiling light cast so little light that the large shade always trapped dead bugs. YUCK! Right? Who wants to be constantly vacuuming their ceiling lights, or, even worse, have someone walk in your front door and immediately notice dead bugs in your lights? So I moved our master bedroom's favourite light fixture into the hallway. Again, when I say "I," I really mean my wonderful father-in-law, who assists with the majority of our home's electrical upgrades!
