The changes apply to the 408 visa – Australian Government-endorsed events (Covid-19 pandemic event). It aims to ease visa holders in finding a job or getting into a new employment contract.

The details for each condition are explained below.

8101 Condition Update for visa 408 Australia

Regarding the 8101 – No work condition, the Department of Home Affairs emphasizes that the condition will not be carried on to your 408 visas from your previous substantive visa.

So, if you are granted a 408 visa after holding a substantive visa has mandatory 8101 – No work condition, the condition will not apply to your 408 visas.

Condition 8107 Update for Visa 408 Australia

Regarding the 8107 – Work Limitation condition for visa 408 Australia, the Department of Home Affairs agreed to put a less restrictive policy. It is also a response to Australia’s ongoing labor and skills shortage.

The changes will allow the 408 visa holders to:

  • Change employment as long as the holder is still employed in a critical sector
  • Work for more than one employer, but the primary job must be in a key sector

One Important Point – You must be Continuously Employed

The other important point is that you must be continuously employed while holding a visa 408 Australia. You must find new employment if your employment contract is finalized while your visa 408 is still active. Otherwise, you must arrange your departure and leave Australia before your visa 408 expires.
