Transcript Intro no makeup on today which means we're talking skincare i've joked in the past that with everything that went on in 2020 the year gave me wrinkles which is honestly probably true due to general stress but also being in my late 20s i am actually starting to see the beginning signs of aging in my face so wanting to do everything i can in my 20s to help myself age gracefully i started to do a little research into beauty devices that could help address the signs of aging that i'm already seeing but also offer preventative benefits as well.
i've personally never really been interested in doing injections if that's your cup of tea absolutely no judgment there but i was more looking for a device that i could use at home that would be more affordable in the long run so in my search i stumbled upon the solo wave which is a skincare device that honestly like does it all i've been using it now for a little over a month so in this article i'm gonna share what it is how it works and if it works but first if you're new here hi my name is miranda welcome to my channel where we talk all things budget beauty.
if that sounds interesting to you then become the newest member of the slashed squad by hitting icon alright so this is the solo wave this is What Is Solawave? a four-in-one skincare device that uses science-backed technologies for maximum benefits it features red light therapy microcurrent therapeutic warmth and facial massage all in this really portable wand for only 149 in the sea of skincare devices this is actually priced very affordably especially for how much it offers so let's go over what each of the four
technologies is supposed to do red light Skin Care Benefits therapy which you can see activating as i touch the device is supposed to help reduce the appearance of blemishes and fine lines minimize breakout and overall just promote a smoother and more even skin tone microcurrent which is what really led me to this device it was a technology i really wanted to try it uses low voltage electrical waves to stimulate the muscles and the deeper layers of the dermis in the skin this promotes smooth healthy skin and helps counteract signs of aging now facial massage you can kind of hear it buzzing is just like you know using a jade roller or even dry brushing it helps you drain toxins from the lymphatic system it helps with
puffiness and finally therapeutic warmth i believe the max temp on this is somewhere between 100 and 107 i will put the actual number right here that helps increase local blood flow circulation and temporarily opens your pores so that your other serums can penetrate into your skin more effectively so the solar wave is rechargeable there is a micro usb charging port on the bottom i would say with daily use i can get about two weeks before needing to recharge it now let's What to Use It With get into how to use the solar wave so specifically for the micro current aspect of this device to work and this goes for any microcurrent device you do need to use it in conjunction with a conductive serum this is to help direct those electrical waves into your skin very similarly to needing ultrasound gel with an ultrasound it's not just for the gliding motion it actually does direct the waves into the skin and eliminates air between the device and your skin so sola wave does have their own conductive serum this is 32 for a one ounce bottle little pricey in my opinion it contains blue tansy aloe vera and hyaluronic acid my skin drinks this stuff up it's very hydrating but my skin drinks it up a little bit too well my problem with this serum you can see i have
about a third left i got through two thirds of this bottle in about a week and a half because of the consistency of this serum i felt like i needed to put a lot on to avoid it drying up before i was done with one section of my face so i was using a lot of this for each treatment and that just kind of signaled to me that this alone was going to be a little bit of a money suck as a recurring cost if i stuck to using the solar wave brand serum so i did a little bit of searching online and i found a micro current gel primer from a brand called new face now this brand also has their own micro current devices they are probably about double the price of the solar wave though but their face gel which is designed to be conductive for
microcurrent so i knew it was going to work with solar wave is so much more affordable as something you'll be repurchasing this five ounce bottle which is five times the amount of product in this bottle was twenty nine dollars which is three dollars less than this serum they also have a two ounce bottle so still double the size of this bottle for fifteen dollars i think plus the consistency of this gel is thicker you do not need as much as the serum to cover a whole section of your face and it's not going to dry up really quickly Solawave Tutorial so here's how i use the solar wave on my face so first i just apply a bit of the gel on the cheek you can see it spreading out really nicely in a thick layer and then i get started by moving slowly in an upward motion point is to keep that face lifted right i also stop to pause in a slightly upward pull where i have deeper lines so like the corners of my mouth and my
laugh lines the corners of my eyes i do both cheeks first and then i do the forehead where i spend a little extra time this is where most of my deeper lines are especially between my eyebrows and the horizontal lines on my forehead now microcurrent might sound intimidating because you're dealing with electrical waves but this does not hurt i have heard that some microcurrent devices give you a little bit of a zing this doesn't though i can feel the muscle contracting when i get close to my hairline that's like the most i can feel it working and if anything that reassures me that it is working after my forehead i move on to my neck and jawline now it's really important to note that you do not want to do
microcurrent over your throat as you do not want to stimulate your thyroid that can cause hormone issues though it's safe to use on either side of the neck and the jawline also you don't want to bring this onto the chest or over your heart now even though this gel is designed to be a leave-on you could totally do that i personally wipe most of it off at the end of my routine this is because i do my solo wave as part of my morning routine so after this i'm gonna go and put makeup on and i just don't feel like the gel is great for layering product on top of now as you probably just saw from that clip you can switch the position of the
solar wave you can go ahead and turn it so that it honestly kind of looks like a razor but in this position it's a little bit easier to go over sections of your face and then i do turn it back to do my neck some people also use it in the straight position under their eyes however it is very important to know which way you're turning this because i have heard of people turning it the wrong way and completely breaking the device so from the straight position how it comes out of the box you are turning clockwise and then to get it back into its default position you turn back counterclockwise it doesn't go 360. that is how people break it one
thing that i What I Don't Like actually really don't like about this device is that there's no on off it's actually just touch activated the main reason i don't like the fact that i can't just turn this off is that sometimes it turns on when i don't want it to or it's even gotten stuck in the on mode because my serum has like dried over it and it's registering touch so sometimes it takes a moment for me to wipe it off and get all the serum off or whatever and then finally it turns off but you know that's battery wasted there's also no indicator that this needs to be charged which can be annoying so you are going to have to kind of figure out what's your personal timing with however long you're doing treatments when you should take a break and charge this there have been times where i've been doing my treatment and this died on me in the middle now let's When To Use It talk about when you should
incorporate solar wave into your routine you can really do this at any point in the day morning afternoon night i chose the morning time you shouldn't be using microcurrent specifically at the same time as skincare products with active ingredients like retinol or glycolic acid now this is just literally during the same like routine i can use this in the morning and then use my octaves at night you can use this after vitamin c serum though and in general because i feel like it just wakes up my face so well i felt like it was best for my
morning routine this should also be the last step in your routine so you should be cleansing toning putting on any of your typical serums not actives then putting on the gel primer or conductive serum and finishing with your solar wave Less Acne all right the moment you've been waiting for does this thing really work now the brand claims that when using this you'll have your best skin in two weeks the only thing i really noticed in the course of two weeks and i mean i'm not complaining this is a great thing to notice was more consistently clear skin in the entire time i've been trying the solo wave which is like i mentioned a little bit over a month now i've only really had one bad breakout i mentioned in one of my last article how it's monsoon season here in vegas so it's been really humid we've been getting a lot of rain and there is such thing as monsoon acne google it it's really interesting but
besides that one breakout since using the solar wave i haven't gotten a lot of new acne or prolonged acne and that is probably thanks to the red light therapy which again does help reduce inflammation i'm not 100 sure that i'm seeing any of my acne scarring fading because red light is supposed to help with that as well i mean i think they're kind of fading anyway because of the serums i use but the warmth could be helping my serums work better now as for my wrinkles which Wrinkles Before & After Photos is what i initially wanted to start using the solar wave for i'm gonna throw up some before and afters because just
looking at myself in the mirror every day i actually didn't think that i was getting results but looking at the before and afters i do see a slight improvement so first off the line in between my eyebrows it's the start of the dreaded 11's i think that's definitely faded it doesn't look as deep i also think my laugh lines are a little more shallow than before the creases aren't super visible in a relaxed position now before looking at the before and afters i thought that the lines on my forehead were still looking very prominent but there is obvious fading i'm really happy to see that now i had a friend who replied to an instagram story of mine and she said that my jaw was looking more defined than usual i kind of see it in the before and afters let me know what you Final Thoughts think so visible results did take longer than two weeks to show up but all in all the solo wave does work i think this is a really really good
introductory anti-aging skincare device especially if like me you're in your late 20s or maybe your early 30s and it is the first time you're looking into anti-aging devices it's just easy to work into your existing routine it's lightweight it's easy to use and you do get multiple technologies and benefits in one product i think especially for someone who is about at the same place i am where you're starting to see signs of aging but mostly you want to prevent this would be a great choice now i do have a 10 off coupon code if you want to try the solo wave yourself use code slash beauty at checkout on their website i will leave the
