Breast asymmetry occurs when a woman's breasts vary in shape, position, or size. The majority of the women, in fact, have modest breast asymmetry. When the asymmetry is severe, it may have a negative impact on a woman's body image, self-esteem, and confidence. There are three forms of breast asymmetry:
- Anisomastia is characterized by a considerable difference in the volume and size of the breasts.
- Anisothelia is a differentiation between the nipples and the areolas.
- combined asymmetry- Anisomastia and anaesthesia are two forms of combined asymmetry.
