Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi, an Indonesian female volleyball player who plays for Daejeon JungKwanJang Red Sparks, stole the attention again in the fourth round of the Korean Volleyball League 2023–2024 season. After the surprising change in performance, South Korean media revealed the key factors that changed Megawati’s playing style.
Initially, Megawati made a deep impression by winning the best player award throughout the first round. However, his performance decreased in the second and third rounds, especially in the attack variations which were considered lacking.
According to a report by Kukmin Ilbo, media from Seoul, Megawati tends to rely on strength in attacking, making her attack patterns too simple and easily recognized by the opposing team. This becomes more critical because Megawati is considered the main star in the quota system for Asian foreign players that has just been implemented in the Korean Volleyball League.
