Promoting CBD Ads on Facebook

cbdadsonfacebook.png

Despite being highly available online,  CBD products are still incredibly difficult to promote on Facebook.

Why? Simply because Facebook hasn't updated it’s advertising policy to reflect recent legislation changes.

And while our fingers are crossed and our ad plans ready for the day this happens, it hasn’t happened yet. So here we are, making it easy for companies like you to promote CBD ads on Facebook despite the outdated ad policy. Check out our step-by-step guide and make your next round of ads an easier one.

First Step: Understand The Regulations on CBD Ads

Though CBD is no longer seen as the terrible contraband it once was, there’s still uncertainty when it comes to CBD as a health and food product. Thus, ingestible CBDs are still COMPLETELY prohibited on Facebook.

You can, however, run ads that feature topical CBD and ingestible hemp. You can also direct your ads to landing pages that feature those products.

Second Step: Be Careful When Crafting Your Copy

Don’t mention the products in your ads. To increase your chances of getting approved, remove all keywords that say ‘CBD’ or ‘Hemp.’ Instead of these words, try alternative phrases like “plant-based remedies,” “organic solutions,” or “natural and herbal supplements.”

You can list the general benefits of your CBD products but always avoid any medical claims, especially serious ones. If you’re citing a specific claim, make sure it is medically-backed by trusted sources like the National Institutes of Health or the U.S. National Library of Medicine.

Third Step: Double Check Other Ad Information

Your copy may seem to be the most important part of your ad, but other details also play a big role in getting your ad approved on Facebook. So take note of the following:

  • You can use CBD images but don’t mention CBD.
  • Create a separate landing page that is specific to your ads and do not use CBD as part of your domain name.
  • You can’t link your ads to your product page, but you may try to use CTAs from your landing page that link to your website.
  • If necessary, create a new Facebook account to run your ads. But leave any CBD-related information off of the page.

Fourth Step: If The Campaign is Rejected, Try Again!

If you didn’t get Facebook’s approval the first time, review the details of your ad. Then, try building a gated landing page for your campaign. Omit any references to CBD and hemp, including links to your website. Let your landing page be a stand-alone site with no connection to your main website. Then, resubmit your campaign.

If you get approved, you can add website links later but wait at least 3 days before doing so.

Fifth Step: If Your Ad is Rejected Again, Find a Reliable Agency to Help You
