Denmark's 'badminton hero' Viktor Axelsen (30) publicly supported Ahn Se-young (22).

Axelsen drew attention by posting a comment on An Se-young's social networking service (SNS) on the 11th, saying, "I give you my respect and support." He is the one who won two consecutive badminton men's singles gold medals until the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and 2024 Paris Olympics.

Immediately after winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympics, Ahn Se-young complained to the Korean Badminton Association and made a determined statement. Since then, he apologized on social media on the 8th, saying, "Because of my remarks, the moments where you have to enjoy celebration and glory to your heart's content are covered up like a tsunami." Axelsen posted a supportive comment on this article.

Axelsen, who is also fluent in Chinese, also has a separate Chinese name, "賽." Among Chinese fans, Ahn is close enough to be called "brother and sister."

Even after leaving the Danish national team, Axelsen plays in various world competitions and earns millions of dollars every year through individual sponsorship contracts. In contrast, if Korea leaves the national team, it is difficult not only to participate in world competitions such as the Olympics but also to receive individual sponsors.

In a related development, Ahn Se-young also pointed out, "I hope you don't block sponsors or contractual issues and release them as much as possible." He also pointed out the current system of the Korean national team, saying, "It would be cruel for a player to not be able to compete in the Olympics just because he is playing in the national team."
