Equity — The WGA strike effectively halted the production of a number of films and television programmes, but the SAG-AFTRA strike has changed the course of events. Because of this, all American film and television sets have been abandoned, and no one knows how long the blackout will endure.
Actors have stopped marketing their next movies because of union rules. Many people have also skipped conventions to join the picket line march. Additionally, a number of well-known celebrities have been making pro-union sentiments.
However, production on the HBO series House of the Dragon set is expected to continue. Technicalities peculiar to the area will keep the cameras moving.

SAG-AFTRA’s Walkout
Over 160,000 actors and media professionals are represented by the SAG-AFTRA, a union in Hollywood. On July 14, it formally entered a strike, joining the WGA, who had already been doing so since May. The two joined together for the second time since 1960 to shut down the entire industry, thanks to their joint decisions.
After a unanimous vote, the union decided to strike after contract talks with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers failed to reach an understanding on the July 12 deadline. The production halt will have an impact on the economy in addition to the entertainment sector.
Concerned about streaming and artificial intelligence, the SAG-AFTRA union demanded increased remuneration and streaming residual pay to reflect the contributions of its members, protection from having their picture used for AI, and control of self-taped auditions.
Equity
There were worries that the Game of Thrones prequel would follow suit when the American entertainment sector went black. However, sources have confirmed that House of the Dragon’s filming will go according to plan.
