Pressure and temperature transmitters

Industries rely on the use of a variety of equipment and instruments. Out of several immensely important instruments, pressure and temperature transmitters are quite crucial. They play a significant role where pressure and temperature variables matter.  Let’s know more about them:

Pressure transmitter

It’s a mechanical device with the capability to translate the expansive force of liquid or gaseous substances into an electrical output. The device is used to convert the pressure through a transducer into electrical signal. Remember that a pressure transmitter is significantly different from a pressure transducer. Each comes with their own properties and functions.

A pressure transducer is usually used before a pressure transmitter. The pressure transducer can convert one form of energy into another, such as degree Celsius to an analog energy (mV).

On the other hand, a pressure transmitter is used to amplify the electrical signals received. For instance, the mV or millivoltage received to the transmitter can be converted in Voltage or mA. The transmitter is used to send the output of the process to a computer.

A number of industries require using pressure transmitters. For example, oil exploration where one needs to measure difference in interior and exterior pressure in pressure sensitive equipment. Pressure transmitters with Ex-certification are highly durable.

Pressure transmitters are also used in maritime sector to gather information about liquid or gaseous process for monitoring.

Temperature transmitter

Industrial or laboratory thermal measurement system requires an important electronic component which is a temperature transmitter.

These components work like an interface between a control system and a temperature sensor. The primary role is to convert analog thermal readings into digital output signals while reducing background noise to ascertain accurate temperature monitoring. The process also reduces interference.

This is quite a complex system which allows analysts to have better understanding of thermal conditions of a process chamber or flow system in real time. The values can be obtained in degrees Celsius or degrees Fahrenheit.

Temperature transmitters may be available as stand-alone devices, which can be connected to one or temperature monitors in a process control system. Additionally, they can even be integrated into a component’s connection head for the purpose. The later is a better arrangement in terms of wiring requirements and other factors as well.

Nevertheless, either of the component styles may be used to obtain signals for digital readings, which can also allow transferring the data to a measuring chain for further processing.
