The Webb Space Telescope
has detected the spectrum signature
of Dimethyl Sulfide, from planet
K2-18B, 111 light years away, in our galaxy.
The planet is 2-1/2 times the size of earth,
K2-18b is 8.6 times the mass of Earth
so 8.6 G gravitation.
A 150lb person would weigh 1290 pounds.
K2-18B has an ocean, and an atmosphere.
Oceans have H20.
Thus: Water and Oxygen.
Dimethyl Sulfide is produced by marine
micro-organisms.
Stench: cabbage, sulfurous, unpleasant
Dimethyl sulfide (DMS) is a volatile, flammable, colorless to straw-colored liquid with a disagreeable odor. It's a key component of the global sulfur cycle and the primary source of marine sulfate aerosols. DMS is also known as the "smell of the C" and contributes to the aromas of sweet corn and asparagus. Environmental impact: DMS is a naturally occurring aerosol precursor gas that plays a vital role in climate, aerosol formation, and the global sulfur budget.
Google AI Summary
The presence of dimethyl sulfide in the spectrum of an exoplanet is being used in exobiology as an indication that life may exist on that planet.
Methane and CO2 have also been found
in the atmosphere of K2-18B...
K2-18B is in the Leo Constellation
K2-18 is a red dwarf star.
K2-18B orbits close, in the habitable zone.
Three signals were found in its spectrum,
one every 39 days, one every 33 days, and one every 9 days.
These are believed to be the orbital periods
of two "Super-earths"...
[unless K2-18b has a nine day rotation,
and a varied surface, like land and sea...
