‘Super utility’ who pushed Kim Ha-seong to the bench…

Adam Frazier, who competed with Kim Ha-sung for the starting position during his time with the San Diego Padres, will wear the Kansas City Royals uniform.

'MLB.com' reported on the 28th (Korean time) that "the Kansas City Royals have agreed to a one-year contract with Adam Frazier."

According to multiple local U.S. media outlets, Fraser will receive an annual salary of $2 million (approximately KRW 2.7 billion) for the 2024 season, and if the mutual option is activated, he will receive $8.5 million (approximately KRW 11.4 billion) for the 2025 season. First of all, Fraser's contract includes a buyout amount of $2.5 million (about 3.3 billion won), so even if the option is not exercised, he can be guaranteed $4.5 million (about 6 billion won).

Frazier began his professional career after being selected by Pittsburgh in the 6th round of the 2013 Major League Baseball Draft, 179th overall, and entered the big league stage for the first time in 2016. Frazier is a 'utility' resource representing the Major League. His main position is second base, but he has the advantage of being able to play all positions except first base, catcher, and pitcher.

Since his first season, Frazier has appeared in 66 games, leaving a mark with 44 hits, 2 home runs, 11 RBIs, 21 runs, 4 stolen bases, and a batting average of 0.301 and an OPS of 0.767. And from the following year, he succeeded in becoming a starting player in Pittsburgh, appearing in 152 games in the 2019 season and recording 154 hits, 10 home runs, 50 RBIs, 80 runs, a batting average of 0.278, and an OPS of 0.798. He was traded to San Diego during the 2021 season.
