When you learn that many of the appareling items women wear now use to be men’s apparel, such questions don’t really matter. People have the ability to know what they like and want to wear. This is a natural process. When some people got the idea their preferences were better than others, rules and standards of dress codes were created to promote and force others to wear what some people preferred. Obviously, this action violates the natural process of individuals choosing what they wear from their own likes and wants, which is still an ability individuals have never lost, even though they are socially forced to subdue it or risk ridicule, shaming, persecution, and social separation or exile.
It’s a bit ironic that most of the items being worn started out as men’s wear and adapted by some of the women who wanted to wear their man’s things because they like them aesthetically and it was one of the ways to feel closer to him while he was away on business or in battles. With similar intent, this is how men’s dresses, skirts, blouses, heels, tights and other apparel became female items of apparel. With the social attitude against men wearing the items associated as women’s wear, men’s choices became quite limited. Trousers or jeans would have become totally women’s wear had there been another men’s garment to replace them. Now the question at hand asks why aren’t camis made for men also. My answer would be because the preferences of others dictate what individuals can choose to like and wear, instead of the natural process of individual preferences being the deciding authority as to what a person wears. Appareling items are adornment coverings to be worn by those who choose to wear them, even if they have to wait for them to be made or make them in their appropriate size. The apparel on its own has no preferences or concerns as to who wears it. This is another social enforcement to promote the preferences of others over individuals as it violates the natural process of personal choice.
