Endoscopy is a medical procedure that involves using a flexible tube with a camera on the end (called an endoscope) to examine the inside of the body. The tube can be inserted through the mouth, anus, or a small incision in the skin, depending on the area being examined.
Endoscopies are generally safe, but there is a small risk of complications such as bleeding, infection, or perforation (tear) of the tissue being examined.
