Legendary Brazilian Footballer Pele Dies at 82 - California Gazette

Pele, a Brazilian football legend and possibly the best Player of all time, has died at age 82.

 

During his 21-year career, he scored a world record 1,281 goals in 1,363 games, including 77 goals in 92 games for his country.

Pele is the only player to have won the World Cup thrice, in 1958, 1962, and 1970. In the year 2000, Fifa named him the Player of the Century.

 

In the past few years, he had problems with his kidneys and prostate.

 

In September 2021, Pele had surgery at the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo to remove a tumor from his colon. The tumor was found during routine tests. In late November 2022, he went back to the hospital.

 

On Thursday, she posted a picture of what looked like Pele’s family holding his body in the hospital and wrote: “You are the reason we are who we are. We love you forever and ever. Rest in peace.”...Read More
