Exploring All the Parts of a Vape Device

Did you ever think about what happens inside a vape device? It’s quite amazing to consider the amount of research that has been conducted to create something to replace cigarettes. The industry did a lot of work within a short time.

So, how does a Geek Bar Pulse, or any disposable vape device, work? This topic will take you through all the parts of a vape and how they interact with each other. The general descriptions below apply to almost every type of vape device, including pens, pod vapes, and mods. Disposable products have a few minor differences, though.

The Battery

This is the power source – the battery – that makes a device work. It’s common for vapes to have a permanent, built-in battery, but there are also a few products with removable batteries. Vaping devices commonly have a USB port for charging, but you can use an external charger to charge a removable battery if you want. Based on the battery’s capacity and device settings, you can use a device for an entire day before charging it.

Other Electronic Components

Apart from batteries, vape devices like the Geek Bar Pulse have a logic board, integrated circuit, and firmware. The logic board and integrated circuit look like a smaller version of a computer’s motherboard. They work together with a hard-coded program called the firmware to control all the functions of the device. The primary function of a vape device’s logic subsystem is to safely deliver power from the battery to the heating element.

Pod Contacts or Threading

All-in-one devices come with permanently attached tanks, but others have a threading for a twist-on tank for a drop-in pod. Pod systems have one or more metal plates connected to the attached pod. If a Geek Bar Pulse uses a conventional vape tank, the center of the threading will have a spring-loaded center pin. It connects to another pin at the base of the tank. This pin or contact facilitates high electrical conduction and is often made from gold-plated copper.

The Chimney & Reservoir

A vape pod or tank has three main components. These include the airflow system, the reservoir, and the coil assembly. You’ll learn more about the coil assembly in the next section. As for the reservoir, it’s the main body made of glass or plastic, and it holds the device’s e-liquid. The airflow system, on the other hand, consists of the intake vent at the base of the pod or tank and the chimney, which leads from the coil assembly to the mouthpiece.

The Coil Assembly

The coil assembly is the primary aspect of a vape pod or tank, and the main components of the coil assembly include the heating element and the wick. When you examine the coil of a spent vape, you’ll notice holes on the side. Through these holes, you should be able to see the white cotton wick of the coil. The e-liquid saturates the wick by traveling through the holes and making the wick completely wet. When that happens, a weak vacuum forms inside the pod or tank and prevents the e-liquid from flowing. If this doesn’t happen, the e-liquid will flood the coil assembly and cause leakage.

Conclusive Statements

Disposable products like the Geek Bar Pulse operate in an almost similar way as a device that stores the vape juice in a pod or tank. The difference is that a disposable device doesn’t store its e-liquid in a reservoir. Instead, it utilizes a large wick that remains in contact with the heating element. The wick holds all of the device’s e-liquid, which may be two millimeters or more.
