 The U.S. Masters is one of the four major golf tournaments known as majors. It is held every year at Augusta National Golf Club, where golfers compete for the chance to win the famous green jacket. Other golf majors are the U.S. Open, The Open, and the PGA Championship.

 

History
 Held annually in the first week of April since 1934, it is held at the private Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. The Masters Tournament is one of four major golf tournaments; The other three are the U.S. Open, the British Open, and the Professional Golf Association Championship. Augusta National Golf Club is hosting the event.

It has always been held in the same place since its inception. Although professionals participate in the competition, some beginner-level athletes are also invited to participate every year. Generally, golfers with impressive past records and achievements are invited to the event. Winners receive lifetime invitations to the Masters, including prize money, gold medals, and invitations to three other golf tournaments over the next five years.

 The total prize money for the 2021 Masters Tournament was $11,500,000, and the winner was awarded $2,070,000. In the first year of 1934, winner Horton Smith received $1,500 out of a $5,000 purse.  The Champions Dinner is held annually on Tuesday evening ahead of the first round on Thursday. The dinner was first held by defending champion Ben Hogan in honor of the past champions of the 1952 tournament.

 

A caddie
 The Masters requires caddies to wear uniforms consisting of white jumpsuits, green masters hats, and white tennis shoes. Each player's last name or sometimes the first initials are on the back of the caddy's uniform.

 Nicknamed the "Golden Bear," Jack Nicklaus won six Masters tournaments, the highest number ever. Nicklaus, who won one of these titles at the age of 46, is also the oldest winner of the competition.
