Why the Audi S3 is the perfect car for those who love to drive

The Audi S3 is a car that benefits from being ahead of its time. You only have to look at 2010 when it first came out to see the influence that this car has had on cars since then. Why? Well, its innovative engine and styling make driving this car a great driving experience. Here are some of the reasons why we love this car so much.

Styling
You first get the sense of this car when driving it. The A3 used to be a huge success in Europe, however, its sales fell in the US, largely due to the more macho style of Audi A3 and Audi A3 Sportback. The 2014 version of the Audi S3 completely changed the public perception of the car. The German car maker’s styling team had a lot of fun designing the Audi S3. The boot on the S3 is actually considerably bigger than the A3, at 455 litres. The grille in the front has been designed in a facetious way, with the hexagonal grill dominating the car’s front end.

The headlights are cat’s eye shaped and the roof has a design which is reminiscent of the coupe design of the Mercedes A45 AMG. The rear lights are also in a hexagonal shape and are integrated into the bumper. The detailing around the car is also great, with the exhaust tips being integrated into the rear bumper.

Driving
It is no surprise that the car’s performance is as great as its looks. The engine that is fitted, is a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 354 bhp at 5,600 rpm and 369 lb-ft of torque at 1,500-4,600 rpm. The engine is paired with a seven-speed S tronic transmission. The sprint to 62 mph takes 5.4 seconds and top speed is 155 mph. The S3 comes with all wheel drive as standard.

Comfort
The Audi S3 has a good ride and is very agile on bad roads. The car is responsive and shows a clear difference from its predecessor. The cabin has more space in the back and the boot is more than 70 litres larger.

Interior
The interior of the Audi S3 is modern, with a piano black finish, with contrasting stitching. The steering wheel has also been changed from the standard black to the high gloss black finish which the S3 comes with. There is a decent amount of storage space, with 17 litres of space in the back boot, which is more than enough for a weekend trip with two people.

Safety
The Audi S3 comes with ASR (anti-skid), 4 wheel disc brakes and ESP (electronic stability program) as standard. Standard equipment includes heated front seats, rain sensor wipers, parking assist, 8.0” touch screen infotainment system with radio and CD player, 12-volt power outlet in the front, Bluetooth interface, Audi virtual cockpit with colour heads-up display, MMI navigation plus with voice control, 18” alloy wheels.
