The Essential Policies & Procedures for the EYFS published by the Alliance offers template policies and procedures that address every facet of the EYFS, including child protection and safeguarding.
When it's time to draft the setting's policies and procedures, take the following into account:
- Which kinds of safeguarding concerns could arise in relation to this provision?
- How should this be handled by everyone in the setting?
- What prerequisites must be met?
Generally speaking, safeguarding policies and procedures should contain plans for things like:
- hiring and managing employees; establishing and preserving a secure environment; making plans for risk assessment
- How settings will be made to securely record and retain data in compliance with data protection regulations
- How you plan to address grievances and accusations made against employees
- Your method for maintaining records
- usage of cameras and cell phones
- giving medication
