World No. 11 Shin Yu-bin lost 0-3 (9-11, 4-11, 6-11) to Sun Ying-sha in the quarterfinals of the 2023 WTT (World Table Tennis) Contender Zagreb women's singles in Zagreb, Croatia, on the 1st (local time).
As a result, Shin Yu-bin was eliminated in the quarterfinals with all three career losses against Sun Ying-sha. Earlier in May, Shin Yu-bin was defeated 0-4 (6-11, 8-11, 8-11, 5-11) by Sun Ying-sha in the round of 16 at the 2023 Durban World Table Tennis Championships.
However, in the women's doubles semifinals that followed, Shin Yu-bin paired up with Jeon Ji-hee (31, Mirae Asset Securities) and advanced to the final by beating India's Diya Parag Chitale-Siriza Akula (59th in the world) 3-0 (11-8, 11-8, 11-8).
