There is a little over a month until American pop icon Anastacia will arrive in Bulgaria on April 16th for her first concert here, part of her world Resurrection Tour 2015.

Tickets for “the little lady with the big voice’s” show can be purchased online at Eventim.

The star agreed to answer OFFNews’ questions about her new album, the contemporary music scene, her fight with breast cancer, etc.

Now that you’re once again preparing for concerts, how do you feel?

I don’t have concerts right now. The first of my tour will be in Sofia, so I’m very excited to come to your country and sing for my Bulgarian fans.

What’s new about “Resurrection”? It’s a new album but it sounds more like your old ones. Was that deliberate or just the way you felt while recording it?

Yeah, for me it was the return of the real Anastacia. The music in it is a reflection of what I am now. I worked with songwriters who took part in making my older big hits (Sam Waters, Louis Biancaniello, etc.), and the music comes right out of my heart. The album speaks of my travels, my personal vision of life, at the end of the day – this is me – resurrected.

What does the album title – “Resurrection” – stand for – for you and for your fans? I personally can find four different meaning.

Well, first of all, that’s the meaning of my name in Greek. Secondly, it’s a resurrection for me – this is the Anastacia recording an album which actually reflects who I am for the first time in a while. Resurrection of me as an artist. It also reflects how much the music industry has changed. Looks like everything changed and got “resurrected”.

What’s the difference in the music industry now and before? What do you think of the contemporary artists?

So much has changed. That’s not a bad thing, I’m just learning the new ways, which shocks my system... I’m still trying to figure it out. There are so many talented new artists appearing every day. I appreciate them and I think we learn from them as much as they do from those of us who have been in the business for a little longer.

A lot of people think that there is a morale crisis and a problem with what artists sing, the way they dress, the values they preach. As an artist who has never drawn attention by provocative scandals or appearance, but just by the power of the music and lyrics, what do you think of what’s happening?

Music is music. Stars are something else. I don’t have the right to judge what people choose to do in public, but I personally mostly want to focus on making my music as honest and socially responsible as possible. As a person, I want to be seen as a role model. I don’t have interest in scandals.

What music do you listen to for pleasure?

Everything from AC/DC, P!nk, Taylor Swift, Sia, Florence & The Machine, Ed Sheeran, Il Volo, Moda, Sam Smith... so many, too many.

What inspires you and what’s the creation process like?

Anything can inspire me and a lot of people have influenced me. I write about the things that happen to me – the everyday things, the illnesses, the fights and them small things in my life. To write music and talk about my experience makes me happy and I want people to understand my feelings and understand that the little things in life can make you happy and can make sense.

How did the fight against the breast cancer influence you? You continue to be an extremely positive and energetic person.

My health problems were MAJOR lessons for me. They taught me how to deal with situations that appear out of nowhere, to continue to be strong, positive and actually use my position in the society to stand up, be a role model, a voice, encouragement for the other people in the world. I hope I can turn any challenge in front of me into something positive. That’s what my main challenges taught me.

Will you stay in Sofia for a while, to explore the city perhaps?

I don’t know if I’ll have the time, but if I do, I will take a walk around the city and explore the sights – I know it’s an old historic town.

What can we expect from your show – songs from your new album for sure, but will we get to hear your old hits and songs from “It’s a Man’s World” which you couldn’t tour with due to your illness?

Oh, let me surprise you! One thing is certain – I promise I won’t disappoint my fans. Come and have a great party with me!

And now, probably the most banal question of them all – what are your plans for the future?

More music, more fun, more show – I don’t want to stop! That’s what’s most important for me.
