This guide will help you import your song library from EasyWorship into LyricDisplay. The import process converts your EasyWorship songs into plain text files that work seamlessly with LyricDisplay.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Make sure you know which version of EasyWorship you're using:
- EasyWorship 7
- EasyWorship 6
- EasyWorship 2009
Step 1: Locate Your EasyWorship Database
- Open the EasyWorship Import wizard from the File menu
- Select your EasyWorship version from the dropdown menu
- The default database path will be populated automatically based on your version:
- EasyWorship 7 & 6: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Softouch\Easyworship\Default\v6.1\Databases\Data
- EasyWorship 2009: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Softouch\EasyWorship\Default\Databases\Data
- If your database is in a different location, click the folder icon to browse for it
- Click "Verify" to validate the database path
- If successful, you'll see a message showing how many songs were found
- Click "Next" to continue
Step 2: Select Songs to Import
- Review the list of songs discovered in your EasyWorship database
- Use the search box to find specific songs by title or author
- Use the sort dropdown to organize songs by title or author
- Check the box next to each song you want to import
- To select all songs at once, check the "Select All" box at the top of the list
- The counter shows how many songs you've selected
- Click "Next" when you're ready to proceed
Step 3: Choose Destination and Options
- Select where you want to save the converted song files
- The default location is: Documents\Imported Songs from EW
- Click "Browse" to choose a different folder
- Choose how to handle duplicate files:
- Skip existing files: Leaves existing files unchanged
- Overwrite existing files: Replaces existing files with new imports
- Create new with (1), (2) suffix: Creates new versions with numbered suffixes
- Review the import summary showing how many songs will be imported
- Click "Start Import" to begin the conversion process
Step 4: Import Progress
- Wait while your songs are converted
- The progress bar shows the current status
- You'll see the name of the song currently being converted
- Do not close the window during import
Step 5: Review Results
- Once complete, you'll see a summary of the import:
- Successful: Songs that were imported successfully
- Skipped: Songs that were skipped due to duplicates
- Failed: Songs that encountered errors
- If any imports failed, you'll see a list with error details
- Click "Open Folder" to view your imported song files
- Click "Done" to close the wizard
USING YOUR IMPORTED SONGS
After importing, your songs are saved as .txt files in the destination folder you selected. To use them in LyricDisplay:
- Go to File → Load Lyrics File
- Browse to your imported songs folder
- Select a song file to load and display
All imported songs are fully compatible with LyricDisplay and can be edited like any other text file.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If the database path verification fails:
- Make sure EasyWorship is closed
- Verify you selected the correct version
- Check that the path exists on your computer
- Try browsing manually to the correct folder
If songs fail to import:
- Check the error messages in the results screen
- Ensure you have write permissions to the destination folder
- Try importing failed songs individually
TIPS
- You can run the import wizard multiple times to import additional songs
- Imported songs are standard text files that can be edited in any text editor
- Consider organizing imported songs into subfolders by category or event
- Back up your imported songs folder regularly
