Chandragiri Fort InTirupati

Chandragiri Fort In Tirupati is a historic fort located in the town of Chandragiri, which is about 11 kilometers from Tirupati in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The fort has significant historical and architectural importance, as it has witnessed the rise and fall of various dynasties and played a crucial role in the history of the region.

The fort was originally built in the 11th century by the Yadava Naidu dynasty and was later fortified and expanded by the Vijayanagara Empire in the 14th century. It gained even more prominence during the 17th century when it became the seat of power for the Aravidu dynasty, a branch of the Vijayanagara Empire. The Aravidu dynasty used Chandragiri Fort as their capital after the fall of Hampi, the original Vijayanagara capital.

One of the most notable historical events associated with Chandragiri Fort is the marriage of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan's daughter, Princess Jahanara Begum, to the second son of the Aravidu ruler, Sultan Abdullah Qutb Shah of Golconda. This marriage alliance strengthened diplomatic ties between the Mughal Empire and the Qutb Shahi dynasty.
