The Indiana Pacers won 131-123 against the Detroit Pistons in the 2023-2024 NBA regular season at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on the 12th (Korea time).
Indiana lost the final of its in-season tournament to the Los Angeles Lakers. It would leave a scar on its runner-up finish. But Indiana players didn't care.
Ace Tyreece Halliburton showed off his overwhelming dominance with 14 points, five rebounds, and 16 assists. Main center Miles Turner also showed off his outstanding performance with 23 points, eight rebounds, and three block shots with a 66.7% (10/15) success rate.
Benedict Maserin, a second-year swingman, also showed off his hot shooting sense. Maserin played for nearly 38 minutes in the bench on the day, and recorded 30 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists, including three three three-point shots, equivalent to a triple double.
Maserin stepped up his gear in earnest from the second quarter. He aggressively dug under the basket and broke down Detroit's defense. Maserin, who scored 13 points in the second quarter, also scored eight points in the third quarter to lead Indiana's offense.
Maserin's performance also spread a smile around the mouth of coach Rick Carlisle.
In an interview after the game, Carlyle praised him, saying, "Benedict Masarin played his best game in the Indiana uniform. We know Masarin's scoring ability. However, he displayed his broad court vision and tremendous passing ability. He also showed off his growth."
Maserin also expressed satisfaction with the performance.
"It was my first game after losing in the in-season tournament. It was fun. I don't really care about scoring records. I'm focusing on impact within the game. I'm getting more comfortable on the court. I'm trying to help my team win by playing the right game," Maserin said.
Maserin has also made a strong presence in his rookie season. Now he has versatility. If Maserin continues his performance, Indiana will emerge as a new powerhouse in the Eastern Conference.
