Olympic Games

The Olympics is a major international comprehensive sports event where almost all countries in the world participate in other sports. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) aims to foster world peace with people through sports and every four years.

The modern Olympics  or Olympics  is a major international sporting event featuring summer and winter sporting events in which thousands of athletes from all over the world participate in various competitions. The Olympics are considered the world's best sports competition, with more than 200 teams representing sovereign countries and territories. The Olympic Games are usually held every four years, and for four years since 1994, the Summer and Winter Olympics have been held alternately every two years.  토토사이트

The evolution of the Olympic movement during the 20th and 21st centuries brought some changes to the Olympic Games. These adjustments include the Winter Olympics, Paralympics for disabled athletes, Youth Olympics for athletes aged 14 to 18, five continental events (Pan America, Africa, Asia, Europe and the Pacific), and World Games for non-Olympic sports. The IOC also approves the deaf and special Olympics. The IOC needed to adapt to various economic, political and technological developments. The abuse of amateur rules by Eastern European countries prompted the IOC to shift from the pure amateurism envisioned by Coubertin to the acceptance of professional athletes participating in the Olympics. The growing importance of mass media has led to corporate sponsorship and the general commercialization of the Olympics. World Wars canceled the 1916, 1940 and 1944 Olympics, a massive boycott during the Cold War limited participation in the 1980 and 1984 Olympics, and the 2020 Olympics were postponed to 2021 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ancient Olympics

The ancient Olympics was a religious and athletic festival held every four years at the sanctuary of Zeus in Olympia, Greece. Competition was between representatives of several city-states and kingdoms in ancient Greece. These games are mainly athletic but feature combative sports such as wrestling and pankrathion, horse and chariot racing. It is widely known that all disputes between participating city states during the competition have been postponed until the end of the competition. This cessation of hostilities is known as Olympic peace or truce. This idea is a modern myth because the Greeks never stopped the war. The truce allowed religious pilgrims traveling to Olympia to pass through the warring territories without hesitation because they were protected by Zeus.

Origins of the Olympics
Enclosed in mystery and legend; [8] One of the most popular myths identifies Hercules and his father Zeus as the founders of the game. According to legend, it was Hercules who first called the Olympics "Olympics" and established the custom of holding them every four years. The myth continues that Hercules built the Olympic Stadium in honor of Zeus after completing his 12 tasks. After completion, he walked 200 steps straight, calling this distance "Stadion" (Ancient Greek: ρςσςι, Latin: stadium, "stage") and later became a unit of distance. The most widely accepted start date for the ancient Olympics is 776 BC; this is based on an inscription found in Olympia that lists the winners of the quadrennial walking race starting in 776 BC.The ancient Olympics featured running events, pentathlon (jumping, discus throw, javelin throw, foot race, wrestling), boxing, wrestling, pankration, and equestrian events.According to tradition, Coroebus, a chef from the city of Elizabeth, was the first Olympic champion

Modern Games

Forerunners
Various uses of the term "Olympics" to describe athletic events in the modern era have been recorded since the 17th century. The first such event was the "Cotswold Olympics," an annual conference near Chipping Campden, England, where various sports participate. It was first organized between 1612 and 1642 by Robert Dover, a lawyer, and several celebrations have since continued to this day. In its bid for the 2012 London Olympics, the British Olympic Association referred to these events as "the first perturbation of Britain's Olympic start."

Resurrection

Greece's interest in reviving the Olympic Games began with the Greek War of Independence from the Ottoman Empire in 1821. First suggested by Panayotis Sausos, a poet and newspaper editor, in his poem "The Conversation of the Dead," published in 1833.Evangelos Zappas, a wealthy Greek-Romanian philanthropist, first wrote to Otto, King of Greece, in 1856, offering to fund the permanent revival of the Olympic Games. Zappas sponsored the first Olympic Games in 1859 at the city square in Athens. Athletes from Greece and the Ottoman Empire participated. Zapas funded the restoration of the ancient Panathenian stadium to host all future Olympic Games

1896 Summer Olympics
The first match, sponsored by the IOC, was held at Panathenian Stadium in Athens in 1896. 241 athletes from 14 countries participated in 43 sports. Zappas and his cousin Constantine Zappas entrusted the Greek government with a trust to fund future Olympic Games. The trust was used to help finance the 1896 Olympics.George Aberf generously donated for the remodeling of the stadium. The Greek government also provided funding, which was expected to be recovered through ticket sales and the sale of the first Olympic commemorative stamp set

Changes and Applications

In 1896, the Olympics entered a period of stagnation that threatened their survival. 1900 Olympic Games at the Paris fair and the st. Louis Purchase Fair. In 1904, Louis didn't get much participation or attention. At The 1904 Olympics, 580 of the 650 athletes were American; the winner of the marathon was later disqualified when he found a picture of him getting in a car while racing

The Winter Olympics
The Winter Olympics were created to feature snow and ice sports that were logically impossible during the Summer Olympics. Figure skating (1908 and 1920) and ice hockey (1920) were adopted as Olympic events at the Summer Olympics.

Paralympics
In 1948, sir Ludwig Gutman decided to promote the rehabilitation of soldiers after World War II, and organized a comprehensive sporting event between several hospitals at the same time as the 1948 London Olympics. Gutman's event, originally known as the Stoke Mandeville Games, became an annual sports festival. For the next 12 years, Gutman and others continued their efforts to use sports as a way of healing.

A youth game
The Olympic Games were supplemented by the Youth Games, which gave athletes between the ages of 14 and 18 a chance to compete. The 1st Summer Youth Olympics was held in Singapore from 14 to 26 August 2010, and the 1st Winter Youth Olympics was held in Innsburg, Austria. These games are shorter than senior games; the summer version will last for 12 days and the winter version will last for 9 days.

21st Century Games
The Summer Olympics grew from 241 participants representing 14 countries in 1896 to more than 11,200 participants representing 207 countries in 2016. The scope and scale of the Winter Olympics are smaller; for example, Pyeongchang attracted 2,922 athletes from 92 countries in 2018. Most athletes and executives are housed in the Olympic Village during the Olympics. The accommodation center is designed as an independent home for all Olympic participants and offers cafeterias, health clinics, and places for religious expression.

Olympic marketing
The sale of the Olympic brand has been controversial. The argument is that the Olympics have become indistinguishable from other commercialized sporting events. Another criticism is that the Olympics are funded by host cities and national governments; the IOC controls all rights and interests from the Olympic symbols, although it does not bear any costs. The IOC also accounts for a portion of all sponsorship and broadcast revenue. The host cities continue to compete fiercely for the right to host the Olympics, even though they are not sure they will recoup their investment. The study showed that trade in the countries that hosted the Olympics was about 30 percent higher.

Consciousness
The opening ceremony

As stipulated in the Olympic Charter, various elements make up the Olympic opening ceremony. The ceremony takes place on Friday and takes place before sporting events (except some group stage football matches, softball matches and rowing matches) begin. Most ceremonies of the opening ceremony were established at the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp. The ceremony generally begins with the entrance of the president of the International Olympic Committee and the representative of the host country, followed by the flag raising of the host country and the performance of the national anthem. Then the host country shows an artistic display of music, songs, dances, and plays representing their culture. Artistic presentations have grown in scale and complexity as they attempt to provide a consciousness that lasts longer than before in terms of memory. The opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics cost $100 million and is said to have cost a lot of money in the arts sector.

A closing ceremony
The closing ceremony of the Olympic Games is held on Sunday and takes place after all sports events. Jockeys from each participating country enter the stadium, followed by athletes entering together regardless of country. Three flags are hoisted while the national anthem is played: the current flag of the host country, the flag of Greece to honor the birthplace of the Olympic Games, and the flag of the country hosting the next summer or winter Olympics. The Olympic Committee and IOC President deliver closing speeches, and the Olympic flame is extinguished. In what is known as the Antwerp Ceremony, the current mayor of the city that hosted the Olympics delivers a special Olympic flag to the IOC president, who delivers it to the current mayor of the city that hosts the next Olympics. The next host country also briefly introduces itself with artistic displays of dance and theater representing their culture
