60 J-League clubs approving the bill.

Half approval, almost passing the board of directors… Japanese J-League, Chunchunje is expected to take effect from the summer of 2026

The Japanese J-League's implementation of the autumn system was passed with more than a majority of 60 J-League clubs approving the bill.

A number of Japanese media, including <Sponichi>, held a working-level committee in Tokyo on the 14th (today) and held a vote for and against the implementation of the Chuchun system with 60 team officials from the J1 League to the J3 League, and the decision was made to implement it, with more than a majority of the votes in favor. The issue will be finalized through the J-League board meeting on the 19th, and will be applied as early as the summer of 2026.

The J-League of Japan has held discussions on the Chunchunje under the water for the past few years. It was when Yoshikazu Nomura, chairman of the J-League of Japan, took office that the plan emerged in earnest. Chairman Nomura went around each club and emphasized that the Chunchunje is essential for the globalization strategy of the J-League.

Some clubs affiliated with Tohoku, including Begalta Sendai, have expressed opposition to the implementation of the Chuchun system. He stressed that it was too early, citing various issues such as pitch, but as shown in the results of the vote for and against, he cannot go against the trend.
