Here's What Makes BWP Plywood Special

Plywood is engineered wood made under high pressure by gluing several thin veneer sheets to form one sheet or board. As a result of the advancement in technology and science, there are many different grades, thicknesses, and sizes of plywood available today.

We will take a deeper look at BWP plywood in this blog.

What is BWP Plywood?

The acronym BWP stands for Boiling waterproof plywood. A genuine quality BWP plywood can be easily identified by its ISI specification number – IS:710.

They comprise knot-free sheets that prevent water pockets from forming within the structure when subjected to water/moisture. Their superior performance in damp conditions makes it an ideal material for use in kitchen and bathroom cabinets since a lot of water spills and splashes can be expected in these places.

What distinguishes BWP Plywood?

Even when boiled in water for 7 whistles in a pressure cooker for up to 72 hours, the highest quality BWP plywood won't exhibit any signs of delamination. Most importantly, it exhibits high Strength and Shape Retention (SSR), indicating higher load-bearing capacity.

The wood is treated with a preservative before stacking and pasting it together. As soon as the plywood boards are glued together, they are treated with a chemical known as Glue Line Protection (GLP), making the sheet resistant to borer-resistant, fungus-proof, anti-termite anti-viral, and anti-bacterial.
