Phase Seventy-Two: Matrats

UIC Pavilion
Allysin Kay vs Alexxis Nevaeh (With Melissa Santos)

M1.PNG

Alexxis has a difficult time trying to get Kay off her feet. Instead, the larger woman consistently takes her down to the mat until Melissa is involved. She grabs the leg and Alexxis manages to connect with an enzuigiri. Allysin drops to the mat for the cover, but she kicks out at one. Alexxis continues to take control with a kick to the face. She drags Allysin into the corner to stomp her down. Melissa grabs the face while the referee isn't looking before Alexxis charges with a running knee.

She tries for another cover, but Kay still kicks out. She rolls out of the ring to recuperate. Melissa is on the move, but Allysin has had enough and boots her to the floor. Alexxis tries for a running kick on the apron, but Kay catches the leg and yanks her to the floor. Allysin wastes no time using the ring post to slam the leg into. She follows up by dropping Alexxis’s back on the barricade before sending her back in. She finishes the woman off with the Discus Lariat for the three count.

Melissa joins Alexxis in the ring, looking down with disappointment. “You were supposed to help me!” The blonde shrieks and shoves Melissa. Santos slaps her back in retaliation and the two are suddenly on the mat in a brawl before referees come down to separate them. Melissa motioned to her neck with a slice, warning Alexxis that this wasn’t over yet.

Reptar On Ice

M2.PNG

Standing in the ring, the buxom figure of The Smokeshow could be seen. The red leather of her outfit hugged each and every curve as she wore a smirk upon her red painted lips. The crowd cheered for the woman, which caused her to emit a soft chuckle before being the microphone she held to her lips. "Now usually, the type of speech I'm about to deliver would be given backstage. However, I know my loyal Bordhoes and the rest of you fives have missed seeing perfection live and in the flesh."

Another cheer erupted from the people within the stands which broke a momentary smirk to her face. "Ever since the last match I've had, defeating Priscilla Kelly and subsequently getting jumped by her and little miss Indigo... they've been dodging my every move, my every word. Hell, I would too if I was them, pissing off someone like myself is never smart." A soft breath was taken in and exhaled back out as Scarlett turned her body to face the stage. "Now, me being the generous and charitable human being that I am, I've decided to give Indigo a chance to grow some balls and walk her little ass out here to face me."

There was a pause as she held one arm beneath her chest and the one with the microphone laid against her cheek. The eyes of the audience turned to see if the mysterious woman would make an appearance after the mention of her name, yet moments passed and nothing happened. Slowly the eyes of the crowd shifted back towards the curvaceous woman standing within the ring as she brought the microphone to her lips. The expression she wore clearly unimpressed.

"Yeah, that's about what I thought would happen. So, Indigo I know you can hear me and I'm challenging you to a match. Prove to the world you're a real woman and accept, or continue being the scared little bitch that you really are." With that, Bordeaux flung the mic to the mat as her music hit. Exiting the ring, she'd make her way up the ramp in fashion that only she could before disappearing behind the curtain.

Taeler Hendrix vs Rhea Ripley vs Paige

M3.PNG

Paige has control early on with the headlock to Rhea. She leaps up to kick Taeler back before dropping Ripley with a bulldog. She tries for the Scorpion Lock early on, but Rhea fights out of it. She manages to get to her feet and forearms Paige into the corner before stomping her down. Taeler jumps on the back, trying to claw at the eyes, but Rhea slams her down to the mat. Hendrix quickly rolls out the ring as Rhea drives a knee into Paige’s face. She looks for the pin, but Paige kicks out.

Rhea looks to continue the attack, but Hendrix is back in and drives a foot into the back of the leg. Rhea drops to her knees and Taeler follows up with a neck twist for the pin. Rhea powers out just as Paige was back in the match. She kicks Taeler in the back of the head and forces her up for a double chickenwing slam, but Taeler counters into a pin. Paige kicks out at two. Hendrix quickly rakes the back with her nails, slowing Paige down long enough to slam her shoulder into the corner. Rhea runs forward, trying to take out Hendrix. Taeler sidesteps and she spears Paige into the corner instead.

Hendrix tries to follow up with a rollup but Rhea still kicks out. The champion shrieks with frustration and starts laying in punch after punch. She forces Rhea up and slams her face into the corner multiple times. Taeler tries for a running clothesline in the corner, but Rhea boots her down. The champion rolls out just as Paige drives a superkick into Rhea’s chin and quickly follows up with the Paige Turner. She looks for the pin, but Hendrix is back in to break it up. Paige elbows her back and they lock up, struggling until they tumble out of the ring. Priscilla is down the ramp suddenly and on Paige in seconds. She helps Taeler by tossing the hurt shoulder into the barricade. They beat down on Paige together before tossing her back in for Rhea.

They egg Ripley on as she plants Paige with the Riptide to secure two points. While she wasn’t done with Paige, she looks down to the two women with a glare, reminding them that she isn’t their friend. Rhea proceeds to stomp the hurt shoulder, intending to take out Paige by dropping her with a suplex onto the shoulder again.

Atwell with Tyler Breeze

M4.PNG

Hayley Atwell was standing by backstage, a microphone in her hand. "Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my guest at this time... PCW Rising Phoenix Champion, Tyler Breeze." Tyler stepped into focus, the championship on his shoulder. "Now, Tyler, you actually asked for this time. What's on your mind?"

Pausing for a moment, Tyler brushed a hand over his mouth, before speaking. "Time and time again, Hayley, I'm accused of taking shortcuts. Of not being a fighting champion, despite the fact that I've never backed down from a fight. I've never declined a challenge. Every time one is placed in front of me and I overcome it every time. So, the reason I've asked for this time, Hayley, is I want to be on the other end, for once. I want to make a challenge."

Hayley looked slightly surprised, as Tyler proclaimed this. "A challenge? To who?" A grin grew across his face, adjusting the title on his shoulder.
"I want to make a challenge for next week. Not to one man. But to two. I'm issuing a challenge to Killer Kross and Phil Jackal. I'm tired of hearing those two ugly rejects, chriping. So I'm going to silence them, once and for all."

Mitchell Knight vs Zack Sabre Jr. (With Austin Aries and Austin Theory)

M5.PNG

Zack gets the headlock and transitions into the armlock. He kicks the back of the leg to get the champion down, but Knight rolls through on his back before kick the hand away. He kips up and avoids a roundhouse to connect with a leg sweep. Mitchell follows up with the double knees, but Zack rolls out the way in time. He follows up with a huracarrana, but Knight lands on his feet. The two go for a dropkick, but it cancels out, the two evenly matched. They lock up and Mitchell kicks the leg before following up with a Snap DDT for the cover. Zack kicks out at one.

They get tangled up on the mat with Sabre getting the advantage with the armlock again. Mitchell is forced to the mat on his stomach and Sabre drops the knee on the arm. He follows up by bending the arm behind the back and stomping it. He follows up with a soccer ball kick to the back and sits up the champion. Sabre rebounds off the ropes for a manoeuvre, but Knight instantly grabs the leg for a dragon whip and gets the ankle lock. Sabre struggles as Aries and Theory watch on the outside. He manages to get to the ropes and the two pull him out. The referee gives him a warning as the two teammates try to give him advice.

Knight looks to springboard out of the ring, but they scatter from range. He lands on the apron and races forward to land a crossbody on Aries as Zack gets out of the way. Knight is up just as Zack gets the roundhouse. He sends the face into the ringpost and forces Knight back in for the pin. He kicks out at two. Sabre drags Mitchell back up and whips him into the ropes, but the champion comes back with the Code Red for the two count. They both get to their feet, Knight elbowing Zack before getting the jumping knee.

Mitchell looks to go high for the finisher, but Theory is on the apron. He shakes the ropes, forcing the referee to focus on him just as Austin shoves Knight down from the top. Zack is up and quickly drops the champion with the Zack Driver to get the victory.

Atwell with Salina De La Renta & Ivelisse Vélez

M6.PNG

“Ladies and gentlemen, after Taya Valkyrie’s huge announcement, things started to heat up on Wednesday night. It seems everyone wants to make a statement and secure their spot on the midway point to Imp of the Perverse. Here with me now, a contender for the Heart of P—“

Ivelisse doesn’t waste any time snatching the mic from Hayley and staring straight at the camera while Salina is right by her side. “That little bitch, esa puta, tried to take me out last week. Salina got me the help I needed in time, but Mike won’t let me compete tonight. He says I should be resting and gearing up for next week. If Taya was present tonight? She’d have thrown me to the dogs already and I’d have wanted nothing less because Taeler needs to recognize who the hell she’s dealing with.”

“Taeler isn’t dealing with her bitch of a husband nor her little niece. We aren’t going to hold back on you. No, we’re going tell it like it is and right now, what it is is that you are a weak champion,” Salina says. “What you lack in the ring, you try to make up for with other tactics. The issue with that, Hendrix, is that it can backfire,” she snaps her fingers, “just like that.” As Salina finishes, Velez has her eyes trained on someone out of view. Hayley and the camera turn to find Lethal off to the side, chatting with a crew member about the lack of attention his dressing room with Taeler has gotten.

Velez creeps up on Jay from behind, the crew member being his only warning as they bolt out of there. Ivelisse clobbers him from behind. She kicks the leg to make him kneel and starts raining down punches to him as Hayley starts screaming for help. Salina doesn’t stand to the side. She grabs a steel chair and drops it down on Jay’s back to weaken him even more. Velez takes over, striking him again and again with the steel. She tosses the chair aside and forces him up with Salina’s help before planting him with a double suplex. The two women continue to stomp down on Jay and beat him down until security is back with Hayley to chase them off, but sending a message that was all too clear.

Double Trouble

M7.png

Frankie stands in the ring with Natalya as the show continues on. They looked pretty pissed off. Frankie shook her head and started them off. “I’m not going to waste anybody’s time tonight. Did we get the beating of our lives last week and the week before? Not that much better. It seems we’re ripped for the picking and every tag team in PCW wants a bite.”

“But this doesn’t come for free,” Natalya interjects as she taps her title. “You all want a chance to fight for this and we want to give it to you to finally put away this idea that we’re losing our touch. I saw what Jenny tweeted to Taya. She thinks we aren’t quite as capable as her and Arisa, a team that can’t from the damn sky. You know what, Blake? Since you think the first time was a fluke, let’s have a Heart2Hart at the big show next week for the championships.”

The fans cheer that on, but they don’t look done. “Vipress and Corvus beat us...so you know what? Let’s put them in that match, as well. Let’s send them back to the dark hole they crawled out of,” Frankie continues. “And you know what? Let’s just toss in Melissa and Alexxis as a pity invite. Four tag teams in one match.”

“And not just any match,” Natalya says. “It’ll be a ladder match. You might think what we’re doing is stupid, but I’m fed up with all the doubts and the sly comments. We’re ending this before it really gets started.” The two women clasp hands and squeeze tight in a moment of solidarity before raising their titles up high in the air, ready to go into battle for them.

Killer Kross vs Phil Jackal

M8.PNG

Kross takes Jackal down immediately with the big boot. Phil doesn’t have time to recover as he’s yanked up from the mat, only to be slammed back down again on his abdomen. Kross repeats this method before tossing Jackal into the corner with multiple strikes to the gut. Kross then headbutts Jackal until he’s slumped in the corner. It was complete domination as Killer Kross yanked him up and tossed his opponent across the ring. Phil was already dazed, struggling to stand. He grips the ropes only for Kross to knock him over onto the apron with a clothesline. He kicks Jackal off the edge and laughs, clearly unimpressed.

The count starts as Kross paces in the ring. Jackal is barely up on his feet by the count of five. He uses the apron to stand and roll himself by seven. Kross is on him again, yanking Phil to his feet. Phil quickly reacts with a kick to the side. He drives a knee into the body and follows up with a springboard bulldog for a pin. Kross kicks out at one. Jackal drops the knee to the chest and forces Kross to sit up before rebounding off the ropes for a meteora to the face. Phil is up again and has to slow himself to recuperate. Kross did a number on him, but he tried for a back handspring into the moonsault. Kross gets the knees up and transitions into sleeper hold. Jackal struggles to escape, rolling through to get the shoulders down. Kross has to let him go.

Phil races forward for the wheelbarrow as Kross stands, but is planted into the mat for the pin. He kicks out at two. Killer Kross doesn’t slow down, grabbing the legs to swing Phil into the turnbuckle multiple times. He tosses Jackal to the mat for another pin, but Jackal still kicks out. Kross is becoming frustrated at this point, tossing Phil out of the ring again. He continues to dismantle Jackal on the outside, but an attempt to drive a knee into the gut is avoided and Kross rams into the steel steps. Jackal capitalizes with a huracarrana from the top of the steps. He sends Kross into the barricade as the count reaches seven. He races into the ring, but thinks for a moment.

Phil climbs up high and leaps off with a spiral moonsault to restart the count. He forces Kross up and sends him into the ring. He looks to go up high again and drops onto Kross with a 450 splash. He hooks the leg, but suddenly Tyler Breeze is in the ring. He beats down on Jackal with the title before slinging him out of the ring. Tyler does the same to Kross, eventually setting him up for the Beauty Shot. Kross drops to the mat hard and Tyler holds the belt up high, clearly not intimidated by either man.

 A Baby's Gotta Do What a Baby's Gotta Do

M9.png

Zara bursts into Taya’s office, but Quack was sitting at the desk instead. She raised a brow as he slowly raised his head, deep in thought. He seemed slightly spooked, but he cleared his throat and looked Zara in her eye.

“What is it, Zara?”

“Where’s T—“
“... She's not here, Zara... What is it you need?”

“... It's Spike. He’s trying to ruin my life. He’s trying to take my babies from me and sue me even though they’re mine. You have to do something. Anything to get him to back off.”

“This is a wrestling promotion, not a marriage counselling centre, Zara. I can’t help you with Spike...”

“But you have to do something!”

“Zar—“

“If Taya were here, she would help me because she hates him just as much as I do.”

“WELL, TAYA ISN’T HERE!” He stood up and slammed his hands on the desk, sitting back down with a sigh. “And it's better that way, trust me... Now, Zara, if you wouldn't mind... I have more important things to think about...” He motioned towards the door, looking down absentmindedly at a folder in front of him.

She stormed out of his office nearly in tears. She made it only halfway down the hall before a thought crossed her mind. She gulped and shook her head. “I shouldn’t... Not after everything...” She took a deep breath. She had no other options. Zara gulped and started hurrying down the hall, a plan clearly in mind for the next step.
