Phase Sixty-Six: Chicago Is Burning

Moment Of Bliss

M1.PNG

Alexa takes a seat in her chair, coffee in one hand and the mic in the other. She gives the crowd a warm smile and takes a sip before looking towards the titantron. A recap of Eleganza Extravaganza was playing with images of her and Shaul being attacked by Ivelisse.

“Ivelisse, whoever the hell that is, decided to take it upon herself to ruin my chances at becoming champion. My points could have been wasted because of her, but Taya was so understanding. What a wonderful GM she is because she allowed me to keep ALL of my ten points and will give me a rematch. So whatever little miss nobody tried to achieve in that match? She failed!”

Alexa looked pleased with herself and took another sip of her coffee, but it wasn’t long before she was shoved from her seat. The coffee cup shattered on the stage and the burning liquid spilt as she was forcibly pulled to her feet and tosses off the stage by Ivelisse herself. The woman took the mic and smiled.

“You think coming out here and talking your shit was a smart idea. You don’t know me, but you about to find out that La Sicaria don’t play games and I don’t accept noise from some brat who had it all handed to her. You see, I came to PCW to make a statement, to solidify the fact that I’m the best women’s wrestler on the planet. That Heart of PCW title is mine for the taking and it’s only gonna be the first step of many to becoming the top dog of this company.”

Taeler Hendrix vs Vipress (With Corvus)

M2.png

Taeler didn’t back down from Vipress despite being on her own. Jay was not in the proper condition to support her, but Hendrix looked focused and it showed in the ring. She had Vipress on the ropes early on and kicks her palm before smacking the demon across the face. Corvus watched with a blank stare as his partner rolled out of the ring to recuperate.

Taeler went after her and Corvus stepped in the way to protect her. His eyes were no longer glazed over and he stared Taeler down with almost a snarl forming. Hendrix shoves him out of the way and eats a big boot from Vipress. She backs into the apron and Vipress slams the face down before shoving her in the ring for the pin. Taeler kicks out. The two continue to go back and forth with Vipress in control.

She drives a forearm to the face and lifts Taeler on her shoulders, but the redhead battles her way down. She connects with a spin kick to the temple and plants Vipress with a DDT. She only gets the two count, but remains on top of the demon, looking to kiss her. Vipress headbutts Hendrix back and takes advantage with a roll-up pin. Taeler kicks out. Vipress tries to lift her again, but Taeler knees her in the face and follows up quickly with the piledriver to secure the victory.

Will Ospreay vs MJF

M3.png

Will had MJF on the ropes at first, drilling him with multiple kicks until he escaped from the ring. As MJF tried to recuperate, Ospreay goes for a corkscrew crossbody. MJF drops to the floor and Will tries to follow up. As MJF is brought to his feet, he forearms Will and sends him crashing into the steel steps. MJF proceeds to roll Will into the ring for the pin. Ospreay kicks out two.

MJF proceeds to drive his fists down into the face before dragging Will to his feet. He whips him into the ropes and Will rebounds with a roll over the back to dodge a manoeuvre and drives a knee into the face. He plants MJF with a neckbreaker for a two count. Will springboards for a moonsault and MJF rolls out the way, but Will lands on his feet and connects with a second moonsault for another close count.

MJF rolls out onto the apron and Will charges for an attack, but he forearms the man back. He pulls Ospreay through the ropes and plants him with a DDT before rolling him back in for the three count victory. MJF stands tall as the victor, but he wasn’t done yet. He continues to beat down on Ospreay in the middle of the ring. He doesn’t relent until Taya finally sends security to break it up. MJF is escorted from the arena as Taya checks on Will.

Shock Therapy

M5.png

Spike lies across two chairs placed in front of Taya’s desk, his gaze far off towards the ceiling. “And I just keep seeing his ugly face everywhere, Taya. I didn’t see him at the pay-per-view, but that doesn’t mean he’s not still watching from afar. I’ve already attacked Zara because of it and we’re hardly speaking now. You have to do so—“

“Spike, I don’t know why you thought I cared about your issues with Pavor and made yourself comfortable in my office. I thought this was going to be about if you should be fired along with Salina. Obviously, no. You didn’t make that deal with Scarlett, but if you don’t leave...I’ll change my mind.”

“But—“

Indigo comes barging in and pushes aside the chairs, forcing Trivet to the floor. “Where. Is. She?”

“Harlow hasn’t shown her face since last week, Indigo. We don’t communicate about her appearances. She shows up when she wants to. If you were looking to fight her, there’s nothing I can do.”

“FIND HER! OR I'LL TEAR THIS DAMN BUILDING TO SHREDS MYSELF! She didn’t leave. I know she didn’t. She’s hiding like a rat and I know she’s just waiting until my guard is down to—“

“Excuse you! I was having a much-needed therapy session!” Trivet stands to his feet and pushes Indigo aside. “As I was saying, Taya. Pav—“

Indigo shoves him back. “You put your hands on me again and I’ll kick your ass.”

“GREAT IDEA! You two can fight next week. Now GET. OUT.”

Kyle O'Reilly vs Austin Aries

M6.png

Both men battle it out for supremacy. Aries has the advantage early on, sending Kyle into the ropes for a dropkick. He follows up with a clothesline into the corner. Austin looks to lift Kyle for a suplex, but he fights back and plants Aries with a corkscrew suplex for a two count. O’Reilly starts to work on the arm, dropping his knee and stomping his feet onto it to soften it up. He looks for the submission early, but Austin fights his way out of it.

As the match continues, both men are suddenly interrupted by the lights cutting off. Shuffling and a struggle could be heard in the ring, but once the lights are on, both men are laid out.

A red symbol depicting a distorted smiley face was painted on their chests, their skins shimmering as the light moved, circuits showing on their cheeks like a faint burn.

Tyler Breeze's Celebration

M7.PNG

Tyler Breeze's music hit and the reigning PCW Rising Phoenix Champion emerged from behind the curtain, to a mixed reaction from the crowd. He made his way down the entrance ramp and into the ring. Taking the title from around his waist, he stood in the center of the ring and held the title high. He then walked over to the ropes, getting handed a microphone and then leaning against the ropes.

"You can call me a lot of things. And trust me... you do. I hear it. But amongst all the things you call me, there's one name you cannot call me. And that's a liar. I said that I'd beat Killer Kross and shut him up. I said I'd walk out here, the very next show, STILL your Rising Phoenix Champion. Everything I said I'll do, since I stepped into this company, I've delivered on."

It would be at that moment that Tyler's speech was interrupted by someone the fans weren't expecting. Their reaction ranged more on the side of cheers as the buxom blonde made her way out and onto the stage. Adorned in a flowing red dress that managed to hug her curves just perfectly, Scarlett Bordeaux had a mic and a look of determination upon her face. "Now, now. Tyler these people don't want to sit through another of your boring speeches! Not when they know there's a Smokeshow in the back."

She would proceed to do a twirl, a smile verging upon a smirk was visible on her light pink and perfectly tinted lips. "Now, by the dumbfounded look on your face, I can tell you were expecting this interruption from a... More psychotic individual but I am here to remind you and everyone in these stands of just one thing. See, I've had more than enough points to challenge for a championship here in PCW. I've hinted at aiming my sights at that.. pretty little title you're clutching to, but I took a step back because I am nothing if not a gracious friend. Unfortunately for him, Kross failed. That leaves me with a wide-open shot and baby, oh baaaaaaaaaabbbyy, I don't miss."

Tyler nodded his head and shrugged, adjusting the championship title, on his shoulder. "Look, you're right! You've had the points and credentials to have a title shot. You earned it. And I take nothing away from you. I know you're more than just a blonde with a nice figure. You're good." A smirk started to creep onto his face, taking a step closer to her, looking eye to eye with The Smokeshow. "But I'm better."

"Better? Than me? There isn't a sweet chance in hell, sweetheart. I'll happily prove that to you when we step inside that ring, one on one, for that championship right there." Scarlett extended her arm outward in order to point her perfectly manicured pink fingertip towards the title that rested on Breeze's shoulder. Eyeing the gold and the way it shone under all the spotlights, her lips would curve into a smirk as she spoke once more. "Take your time, Tyler. Celebrate this win because you absolutely earned it, but the next chance I get? I'm prying that title from your cold, dead hands. Not that I need to take it to that level. I just do it for fun."

Her music hit as she dropped the microphone with a splat to the stage flooring. A little taunting followed by a wink to the lens and a kiss blown to Tyler, the blonde turning on her heel and walking back through the curtain as the crowd was making some noise.

Phil Jackal vs Pete Dunne vs Mitchell Knight
Future of Phoenix Championship Match

M8.png

Jackal remains on the outside as Mitchell mixes it up with Pete. They go back and forth, but Dunn gets the power advantage and takes Knight down with a clothesline. Knight folds up like an accordion and Dunn goes for the pinfall, prompting Phil’s involvement with a breakup of the pin. He pays for it as Pete sends him to the mat with a vicious forearm. Pete proceeds to attack Jackal and toss him into the corner for multiple strikes to the torso. Pete sends him flying across the ring and Jackal rolls out as Mitchell comes back into the action.

He catches Pete off guard with an armdrag and follows up with a running knee to the face. Dunn stumbles back into the corner and Mitchell fires away with multiple chops to the chest. He tries to follow up with a monkey flip, but Dunn reacts quickly and plants him with a powerbomb for the two count. Pete lifts him for a suplex, but Mitchell battles back and knees him in the gut. He leaps into the back of a kneeling Dunn and connects with an inverted backstabber for a two count.

Jackal enters the ring and sends Mitchell to the outside before going up high to finish Pete off with the 450 Splash to retain the title. Mitchell is in disbelief on the outside as Phil celebrates. “I’m still better than you, Knight!” Jackal shouts from inside the ring and continues to mock the man, prompting Mitchell to enter the ring, chasing Phil out of it. “I’m still the champion! I’ll always be the champion!”

Jon Moxley vs Sami Callihan (With Bray Wyatt)

M9.png

Sami awaits his opponent’s entrance. Bray was nowhere to be found as Jon walks out onto the stage. However, he doesn’t make it far before Wyatt is on him. He brings down fist after fist from behind, wearing Moxley down. Jon eventually battles back and there’s a war unleashed on the ramp in just a matter of moments. Sami races out of the ring to assist Bray and they double team the man. Bray sends him into the ring and orders Sami to finish it, but Jon continues to fight back.

He refuses to go down and manages to drop Sami with Moxicity. Enraged, Wyatt enters the ring to finish the job himself. He manages to catch Jon off guard with a forearm and uses the briefcase to beat down on him. It wasn’t long before Melissa came racing down and attacks Bray from behind. She was stronger than before now and caught Wyatt with a slap that echoed throughout the building. Moxley was able to take advantage and plants Bray with the Midnight Special piledriver.

Melissa looks on in dismay as Sami could barely stand, but his face was twisted in a snarl. He glares at Jon with pure hatred before slinking out of the ring with Wyatt. Moxley glares at Santos and shoves her to the mat. “I didn’t ask for your fucking help! STAY OUT OF MY WAY!” The woman watches him leave in a rage, left alone in a confused state.
