PCW Year-End Awards

Wrestle Factory

host.png

Mike and Taya stand side-by-side in the center of the ring as the New Year’s Eve spirit. Quackenbush dressed himself well, making a special request for a suit tailored just for this occasion. On the other hand, Taya put together her own ridiculous attire. A black dress had yellow writing stitched in with “Happy New Year!” across her torso while fireworks burst from the exclamation point. Her heels were ridiculously tall and yellow while an even bigger headband was attached to her golden locks with two antennas on top imitating fireworks, as well. To cap it all off, she had yellow, New Year glasses. Quackenbush started first, wanting to give an opening for tonight’s ceremony.

“As announced earlier this month, PCW will still host its weekly show tomorrow night. We will quickly jump back into the spirit of violence, chaos, and madness that is typically involved in this company. However, tonight we put that all behind us as we celebrate the new year. Welcome to the second Annual PCW Year-End Awards. It is on this night that we celebrate the successes of our roster members and simply give thanks to each and every person who put forth the effort to make PCW the best it can be amongst the world of professional wrestling.” Mike hands over the mic to Taya and she happily accepts it with a huge grin on her face.

“Tonight isn’t about who’s the best or any of the storylines presently going on in PCW. This is all about family friends getting together to celebrate another year in PCW. It has been an honor to be here the last two years, working side by side with this idiot. The last two years has been a wild ride, but nothing has been as wild as the past year of 2019. I mean, I ate a guy and almost ate Mike, The Fourth Circle forms, Aleister is shanking people, MJF is suing the company, sisterly bonds have been destroyed, alliances have been made to fight against evil—PCW has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride and we just don’t know where to let you guys off at.”

“Assuming we want to let you go,” Mike says into the mic and Taya nods in agreement.
“Honestly, the more you guys love the show, the longer you get to enjoy the ride. I’ve enjoyed it, Mike’s enjoyed it, the roster is having a good time, so I hope that all reflects in the shows we put on. Now we only have so much time before the countdown, so let’s get this underway so nobody misses out on the New Year’s Eve festivities. ¡Gracias por venir y por favor disfruten el show!”

“Now we did do a poll,” Taya started. ”We honestly just did not feel comfortable with how it played out. We understand that we entrusted the PCW fans with these awards, but realized that voting isn’t always objective. Therefore, Mike and I believed we each should have our own votes to balance out your votes. Ultimately, winners were based on a three-way vote between the fans, Mike, and myself. We thought that was the most fair and object way of making a decision.”

“That said,” Mike states, “I would like to award the Breakout Star of the Year. The nominees are Ivelisse Velez, Aleister Black, Melissa Santos, and Brian Pillman Jr.” As each name was called, the competitors stepped out from the backstage area and graced the stage with their New Year’s attire. Each man and woman stood side by side, eagerly awaiting the results as the crowd starts chanting different names. Taya motions for them to quiet down as Mike continues. “A breakout star is someone who steps into that ring and wows us with the skills. It is someone who may not exactly been in all the biggest storylines or won the big titles, but they were the dark horse who took their opportunities and ran with them throughout the year. The fans, Taya, and myself all decided that this individual best described the breakout star. Congratulations... Melissa Santos!”

Melissa excitedly squeals before hugging the other nominees. They congratulate her as she makes her way to the podium on stage to accept her award. The glass Phoenix symbol stood tall and proud on the stand, the orange and yellow creature gleaming in the arena lights as Santos held it in carefully in her hands. Breakout Star of 2019 was etched into the golden plate, elegantly written with great care for the eventual winner. Melissa shook hands with them both before Taya yanked her into a hug. The fans all applauded Melissa as she took hold of the mic. “Thank you guys for voting me as the breakout star. I started out as just an interviewer, but realized I wanted more because I know I could do more. I am so grateful to Taya and Mike for letting me branch out and try something that’s still new to me. It has been a wild 2019, but I hope when my babygirl grows up and looks back on this, she will be proud that her mommy achieved something amazing. I hope she sees that she can, too. ¡Muchas gracias a todos!”

Taya takes the stand and straightens her New Year’s glasses before smiling. “So we now move to the Rivalry of the Year. Dun-dun-duuuunnnn!” The fans start to laugh and applaud the introduction as Valkyrie continues. “This award is for a feud that forced PCW to put a spotlight on it. This feud was both brutal, captivating, and raised the standards in this company via in-ring and promo skills. To us, this feud goes above the rest because it was unlike any other in that it really showed a side of our roster that the fans just were not expecting to attach to and love. The nominees are as followed: Tyler Breeze versus Scarlett Bordeaux, The Fourth Circle versus the World, Mitchell Knight versus MJF, and Heart2Hart versus Eyes of Demise.”

“The winners were chosen because their feud was reignited throughout the year. We saw these individuals battle times before, becoming more brutal with each encounter. This feud, in particular, involved gold and it was that desire to be on top with the grand prize that made this feud Rivalry of the Year. Between the three-way vote, we all agreed that this feud took the cake. Congratulations to Tyler Breeze and Scarlett Bordeaux!” The competitors had all lined up, but only Tyler and Scarlett broke from it. The nominees congratulated them before they approached the podium to receive their awards.

“Thank you all for nominating and choosing us as the winners,” Bordeaux states. “I’ve only been here two out of the three years of PCW’s activity, but I have had one hell of a welcome party. This year, especially has been crazy.”
“You can say that again,” Tyler jumps in. “It’s been only a year for myself, but it’s been a year I could never forget. So many ups, not too many downs, and a year-end award to boot. I just wanna say the two of us worked really hard to enthrall you guys, to make you really care about what we do in this ring. Based on this, I hope that goal was achieved. We were up against stuff competition, so this makes me even more proud to have.” The winners hug each other and took a bow as the crowd applauds.

Taya remained at the podium with an even bigger grin than before. “What might be my favorite category—the Oh Em Gee Moment of the Yeeeaaaar! This award is for an individual or individuals who stood out amongst PCW with the biggest, most shocking instance in the entire year. When we think back on this moment, it still gives you the chills or makes you giddy in your seat. This moment will last, forever being labeled as the defining period in PCW. It is something none of us could ever forget. That said, the nominees are Aleister when he stabbed MJF, The Fourth Circle’s formation, Zara’s inclusion in the circle, and Indigo Hanging Hania off the ladder.”

“The winner was once again unanimously decided. I think it is safe to say that nobody is going to forget this particular moment because it really did throw the entire company for a loop. No amount of warnings, only one, made a difference because everyone was still taken back. It has to be one of my proudest, creative moments in PCW history. I mean, I really hit the nail on the head with this one. It was a bloody surprise for everyone, except me. The winner is...Aleister Black for turning into Michael Myers at Beyond Tomorrow!”

Everyone claps for him. Black shook hands with the other nominees before approaching the podium to accept his Phoenix award. He cleared his throat as he took the mic. “I’m not one for words really. Earlier, I just saw my beautiful wife become breakout star and now here I am with the most gruesome moment in PCW memory. She gets remembered for her excellence and I’m the Michael Myers of PCW.” Everyone laughs as he holds up the award. “I’m definitely okay with that, though, and really appreciate this company for letting me stand out. My entire life, I never wanted to just blend in and be another face with no name. I wanted people to see me and recognize me, to look at me and know that I am not just some weirdo with tattoos. Thank you to PCW for allowing me to be a somebody...and um...sorry about your leg, Maxwell.”

“This one pretty much explains itself,” Quackenbush states. “This award is for the very best team in the entirety of PCW. When you think of tag teams, you think of this duo because they held the division together. They were pioneers, visionaries, and represented the division unlike any other tag team. It’s been hard getting out division off the ground. I made the belts in the first year, but never formed an actual division around them, so they remained on the shelf. The roster was simply too small and not ready for them. As 2018 came along and so did Taya, the roster started to grow. She and I worked together to bring in those gifted in both singles and tag team competition. Now PCW has an array of competitors who may one day be the best tag team. For now, however, there is only three nominees. Heart2Hart, Eyes of Demise, and Rocket Stars.”

“The winner was chosen, once more, unanimously. All three of us decided that this team really held it together all year long and were actually champions for most of it. They exhibited the courage and strength necessary to sacrifice for each other, uplift each other, and really showcased what it meant to be a unit. It is an honor to congratulate Heart2Hart on being that tag team.” The crowd applauds as the teammates shake hands with the other nominees before approaching the podium. They both receive their own award and lightly clink them before hugging.

“Damn, this is crazy!” Frankie says immediately and the audience laugh. “I can say damn, right? We’re not getting too classy with this thing, yeah? I am so happy to have been awarded with MVT of the Year. Last year I was the breakout star, so this is a pretty big jump for me. I could not have done it without Natalya, though.”

Nattie puts a hand over her heart as Frankie continues. “She’s been a teacher to me, training me outside of the ring to be the very best version of myself. I knew I had what it took to be a champion and did so as the first All-Weight Champion, but it’s because of her that I was able to be even better and become tag team champion. Thank you, Nattie. I really mean it when I say you’re the best.”

“Frankie, you’re too kind. You always had it in you. All I did was show you the way and really, you helped me, too. I was, still am, contemplating if I was capable of competing with all of the new generation athletes coming in. My biggest fear was falling behind, becoming too old for this, and being this relic of the past. The only thing I could’ve asked for this year was to be included. Being left out would’ve crushed me and honestly, I felt that’s what would happen in PCW. Yet here you came along to help me be something greater and now we stand as the best tag team. I could not have won this without you.” The two women hug tightly on stage as the crowd applauds them.

Mike Quackenbush continues with the next award. “The Match of the Year award is probably the hardest to decide on because PCW has been home to many great matches. That’s not to be arrogant, but to simply say that our talent goes absolutely nuts. Even on regular shows they put out their best effort. It was a struggle for Taya and I to find four matches that can really sum up the madness that surrounded PCW all year-long. Almost half our matches end in brawls or has someone getting busted open, so this was a real hard choice to make. The nominees are War Games, Tag Team Ladder Match, Mitchell Knight versus MJF in a TLC match, and Scarlett Bordeaux versus Tyler Breeze versus Pavor Nox in a Gingerbread Cage Match.”

“How the hell does Taya come up with these things?” The blonde laughs as he shakes his head. “As I said, this was a battle. It was definitely difficult to decide on which of these matches shon the brightest. All four really captured the brutality it takes to survive in PCW. Not a single person in any of these matches came out unscathed, which makes it even harder to really know which match was the most deadly. Quite a bit of discourse between Taya and I went down for this one because we so passionately believed in the choices we made. Unfortunately, we could not agree on the same match. However, your vote broke the tie. Congratulations to War Games as the Match of the Year! Every competitor involved, please come forward.”

Both teams from War Games came down, all shaking hands, hugging, and congratulating each other. They each took their awards for the match before they talk amongst themselves. Who would do the acceptance speech? Clearly not all of them could get a turn on such a time limit. After much whispering and eye-rolling, Taeler and Priscilla approached the podium. “We will make this super-fast,” Kelly says. “War Games was by the far the most brutal clusterfuck I’ve ever been in. It was totally nuts, but I loved every minute of it. I think we all did honestly because it was so crazy and it involved so many people. All of us were able to come together to put on a main event that blew the audience away.”

“And it was able to showcase so many different people’s range of brutality. We were able to see characters like mine who doesn’t typically go down this overtly violent path. We also got to see someone like Indigo shine through some more and show what she can do. I think we all benefited from this matchup and are proud of what we did that night,” Taeler says. “Thank you all so much!” They said together as the crowd starts to cheer for them.

villain.png

“Villain of the Year,” Taya says. “Probably should’ve been me.” The crowd laughs as she flips her hair and grins. “There’s been a lot of bad guys in PCW. Probably way more than good guys, but what can I say? I love to see people do bad things in promotions and PCW was such the perfect place to make a lot more villains pop up. I think that complicated the awards, though, because there’s so many to choose from now! Ultimately, the biggest villain is someone who really turned PCW upside, causing all kinds of chaos that has never been seen before. There’s been plenty of madness, but this one person really stepped up to create most of it. The nominees are Vipress, Priscilla Kelly, Tyler Breeze, and MJF.”

“Again, this villain is someone who caused most of the bigger issues in PCW. This person just did not give a damn and did whatever they wanted to get their way. Again...sounds like me, but I think there’s someone who tops me this year as a consistent villain. This person rounded up all the big villains of this company and created a faction of the baddest guys and gals that PCW has to offer. That’s right! The winner is none other than Vipress!”

The woman came down to accept her second award and shook hands with Taya and Mike. She approached the podium and gave a little wave. “I’m kinda shocked. I mean, I’ve been a bad guy from the very beginning, but it took some time to really find my own path in PCW. It was just me as an underling for a bit before I really discovered who Vipress was supposed to be. She was much more than a doormat and I wanted to explore my options with her. Now I stand as the Villain of the Year because I slowly gathered a small army to take over the world. I think that is a pretty big jump from the beginning of this year to the end.”

“I want to give a special thanks to Corvus. He helped me see who I was supposed to be as Vipress and really guided me on my journey to being the worst version of myself. I think he is just as much of a villain as Vipress and I want to share this award with him.” She motioned for Corvus to come down and they shared a hug. “Anything you wanna say?”

“Well...this was totally unexpected. As much as I’d love to win something, this was all you. You had all the tools necessary, I just showed you how to use them. I appreciate your kindness and your willingness to bring me in on your journey. Let’s fuck more shit up next year.”

“The last award of the night,” Taya says into the mic. “The Most Valuable Player of the Year award is for the person that stood out as top dog all year-long. This person really showed that they have what it takes to survive in PCW and conquer all that they come across. The winner of this award had a Year unlike any other person, putting forth their effort time and time again to really make PCW the best it can be. While they cannot carry an entire company on their backs because this is a team effort, this individual did bear quite a bit of responsibility as the face of PCW.”

“The nominees,” Mike states, “are as followed: Phil Jackal, Scarlett Bordeaux, Tyler Breeze, and Natalya. All worthy nominees in my opinion. However, against the popular vote, Taya and I were able to decide another nominee who we believed was the main player in the entirety of PCW. This individual was on top nearly from start to finish and 2019 would’ve been vastly different had they not been in the spotlight.”

“We think—we know this person was on top of their game because they were able to become the longest reigning champion of all time. It will be a challenge to overshadow all that they’ve done, so it goes without saying that the winner of this award is Tyler Breeze!” Taya and Mike clap for him as he shakes hands with the nominees. Breeze walks to the podium and accepts his award, hugging both Taya and Mike.

“It’s been a wild 2019 and I’m ending it with three awards, the longest reign, and incredible memories. When I stepped into PCW, I had no idea I would get even halfway to where I am now. I just knew I would get overlooked or forgotten, but these two really let me shine. They gave me the opportunity and I ran a hundred miles with it. I’m still running with it and don’t plan to stop. Just because I’m not champion right now doesn’t mean 2020 will be any less exciting and full of success. I have goals in mind and I plan to achieve them all. Right now, I’m building myself back up in this company, but it’s safe to say I ended the year the best way I possibly could. Thank you for voting for me and thank you to PCW for this amazing opportunity!”

As he finishes his speech, Taya comes up from behind with a champagne bottle. The woman was struggling to pop the cap and Quackenbush had to help her. As soon as Breeze turned around, the cap popped off and champagne shoots out into his face. Suit, hair, and awards covered in the beverage—Tyler just stood there shocked.

Valkyrie and Mike share a look before Breeze starts to laugh along with everyone else. Priscilla grabs the bottle and wastes no time dumping it on Hendrix. This started a champagne war with more bottles coming out to dump on the whole roster. “Thank you all for coming and have a happy new year!” Taya shouts on the mic before champagne is dumped on her head to end the ceremony.
