The moon is full. Its soft silver rays teasing the shadows... Shadows where he lurks.
His skin is the color of ash, appearing almost silver in the moonlight, and covered in demonic runes and writings, the marks appearing to swirl like lava that had yet to cool. His eyes are the color of fresh blood set on a black sclera, pupils slitted much like a dragon's. Large, long black horns curl up and back from his forehead while a set of large, leathery black wings are set against his back, wing claws flexing a bit in anticipation. A long black tail sways and curls behind him as his hands, ending in long nails sharpened to points, perfect for dealing the final blow, curl into loose fists at his sides.
He is a Prince of Hell, coming from the darkest parts of that damned place and contently ruling under the King of Hell, himself. And he's hungry... Currently hunting a group of men who are notorious for their crimes. He is so close that he can smell their souls, their dark damned souls. Just as he's about to make himself known, the pitiful sound of someone calling for help reaches his ears. Ears filling with the sound of despair and agony, the will to live on slowly dying. He gives a dark grin before vanishing, following that cry.
He finds himself in front of a small, two-story house. Voices raised before the loud clap of skin-on-skin rings out. Below it all though, he can still hear the pitiful soul calling out. He moves through the shadows and enters the house... Almost choking from the evil intent that currently filled it. He glances around to see a large man standing over a woman holding her face, tears rolling down her cheeks. It's not her soul that calls to him, so he moves on through the house. Eventually finding himself before a closed bedroom door. Slowly he opens the door to find a child huddled in the middle of the floor, her body covered in bruises, cuts, and scrapes.
Her... She is the one who called out to him.
He approaches, not yet making himself known, as he reaches out but... hesitates. She is young and so fragile and... He crouches down, letting his form take shape from the shadows. Slowly he reaches out and gently grabs her shoulder, a soft smile on his lips.
"Shhhhh. Stop your crying child. I am here. I have heard your cry."
He watches as she looks up at him, expecting her to pull away in fear but instead she throws herself into his arms. Arms that slide around her, hands gently caressing her back as his wings unfurl and wrap around her. A few moments later and her body goes limp in his arms from exhaustion, and his smile grows. Lifting her up into his arms, he carries her to the bed and lays her down, covering her up. He waves a hand over her small frail form, healing her wounds and bruises.
"Don't worry child. I shall protect you for all eternity. If you should ever need me and I am not near, call my name and I shall come. Just call to the wind." He whispers to her.
That night he swore himself to her as her protector. When she woke, he told her his name is Azekial and that only she will be able to see him unless she's in danger. For years he stayed by her side. Her friend. Her confidant. As the years passed, as she grew up, his bond with her grew ever stronger. Even he grew stronger, feeding on the evil from those that tried to hurt her.
However....
Its been many years, now, and she has not called on him. Her stepfather has not laid a hand on her since that long ago night and so she has had no immediate need to call on him, but still he stays. He continues to follow her around, always staying by her side, a constant shadow. Keeping her safe where he can while waiting to hear his name on her lips once more. After all, he is hers... Her imaginary friend.

Mirajane sighs softly as she walks down the sidewalk towards the house she currently lives in with her mother. She'd, years ago, stopped thinking of it as her home. Its no more her home then the man living there is her father...
Her uniquely bright yet dark blue eyes seem to glow slightly in the silver light of the full moon, irises surrounded by a darker blue ring that almost looks black as she glares down at the sidewalk. Having just graduated high school, and having turned eighteen a few months prior, Mira had asked her mother, who had actually been sober for once, if she could hang out with her friends to celebrate. Receiving a yes with the stipulation that she had to be home before midnight. She lifts her right arm, turning it to look into the analog face of her watch that sits against the inside of her wrist.
Shit! Its ten to midnight and even if she runs, she's pretty sure she's still going to be late. Looking up, she can just make out the house, Okay, maybe I won't be that late.
Mirajane quickens her steps. Sneakers slapping against the pavement as her backpack bounces against her back while she grips the straps to keep them from slipping over her delicate shoulders. Shoulders exposed by the thin, spaghetti straps of the purple tank top she wears. A sudden cool, early summer breeze blows the loose strands of her shockingly silver hair back from her face, most of which is up in a ponytail that ends just above the swell of her backside - that's hugged by a pair of cut-off jean shorts. The slender yet voluptuous eighteen-year-old only wears such things around her friends... Too scared of what might happen if she wears them in that house.
Unfortunately, she'd forgotten to change into the concealing, loose t-shirt and baggy pants that are in her backpack before leaving her friends and it's too late now as a low beep sounds from her watch. Pulling her from her thoughts and back to the present situation.
Midnight...
She runs up the sidewalk that leads to the front of the house, taking the steps two at a time on the short staircase leading to the door. Mirajane reaches out to grab the doorknob just as its pulled open from inside. With a soft gasp of surprise, she stumbles back a few steps before looking up into the furious face of... him. Her stepfather. She stands there staring at him with wide eyes for a moment before he steps back, pulling the door open, "You're late."
Flinching at his harsh, gruff tone, she quickly dashes past him before he slams the door shut, "I... I'm not late..."
She glances into the living room as she walks towards the stairs that lead up to the second floor of the small house. Her mother sits on the couch, a mostly empty wine bottle on the coffee table and a wine glass in her hand as some show or movie plays on the flatscreen tv mounted to the wall. Of course she would be drinking.... Mirajane almost makes it to the stairs before she's jerked to a halt by her stepfather grabbing the top handle of her backpack.
"Don't talk back to me!" She flinches as he yells then tosses her against the hallway wall. Her backpack taking all of the impact before she finds her footing, but remains leaning against the wall as she stares at the floor, It's been years since he's laid a hand on me... Just stay calm, don't speak and he'll get bored then let me go to my room.
The dim lighting in the hall is more than enough to show off the tan skin that covers her exposed arms, legs, and chest. The color being something that had boggled her parents when she'd been born - since they were both white. Her outfit revealed more skin than she had ever shown while in this house. And for good reason... Mirajane slowly looks up and the look on his face makes her shudder, something he notices immediately. "So... now you're not going to say anything, Mirajane?" Hungry eyes continue looking her over, making her feel sick.
"N-no, sir. I'm sorry for being late. M-may I please go to bed?"
"Hunny, let her go to bed.... She's only a few minutes late after all...." At the sound of her mother's soft and slurred voice, he looks away from her and towards the living room. A coldly calculating look on his face, "Fine." Her eyes widen in shocked surprise, but she says nothing as she turns and hurries up the stairs, feeling his eyes on her the whole way before she shuts her bedroom door.
A few moments later, Mirajane is in her favorite light purple pajama shirt that comes down to just above her knees, propped up against the headboard of her bed with a book in her hands and the bedside lamp on. Noises out in the hall pull at her attention, making her pause mid-paragraph and lift her head. She hears her mother's soft, slurred voice then the deeper timber of her stepfather's before their bedroom door closes and she lets out a sigh of relief. She reads for a little while longer before laying the book on the bedside table and shutting off the light.
Yawning, she lays down and pulls her light, large comforter over herself, falling asleep almost immediately and dreaming of a time years in the past when he had appeared... Her Guardian... Protector... Imaginary friend. She smiles softly in her sleep before a rough tug pulls her comforter away and she sits bolt upright, right into her stepfather's arms.

Azekial glared at the man who called himself Mirajane's stepfather, Tony. He was no father to her, and the man who was was long gone, his soul another addition to Azekial's power. Blood red eyes bore into Tony's back as he slammed Mirajane against the wall. As his tail twitched with anger, a cold breeze went through the house, but it was noticed by no one.
Azekial could see the intent, see the evil thoughts in Tony's eyes as he stood over him. He prayed for the man's sake that he would be smart and release Mirajane quickly before Azekial took action. Thankfully he did and Mirajane was rushing to her room, Azekial effortlessly following her.
His eyes never left her as she went about her room except when she changed her clothes, turning his gaze away to offer her privacy. As she lay down reading, Azekial rested on the windowsill, wings wrapped around him as he watched her, a small smile spreading over his lips. He had enjoyed his time with her, enjoyed watching her grow up. He smiled with pride. It was strange for a demon to feel pride when not killing or taking a soul, but he felt pride when he looked at his Mira. He was prideful that he was able to give her the chance she needed to grow up as a happy child. Though not every day was happy, she was at least safe and protected. It did hurt him when she no longer called on him, but he knew that if he was patient and stayed with her, he would once more hear his name.
Getting lost in thought, he didn't hear the two adults go to bed. He was unaware of Mirajane going to bed until she turned the light off. Blinking, he brought himself back to the present just as the sound of her door being opened reached his ears. He looked over, eyes glowing brightly as Tony made his way across the room. It wasn't difficult to see the obvious erection in his pants and it quickly angered Azekial. He rose to his feet as a dark growl was ripped from his throat just as the man tore the blanket off Mira. His wings bellowed as he growled louder in anger and frustration.
He could do nothing but stand and watch as Mirajane woke and sat up, Tony's arms wrapping tightly around her. He pressed his hand over her mouth and shushed her. "Say a word and this will hurt even more." He snarled in her ear before running his hand down her arm and over her leg. He pushed her down, so she was laying down, his hand still covering her mouth as he slid his other hand up her legs and towards her womanhood. He was unaware of the room's temperature dropping as Azekial's anger continued to grow.

Mira immediately begins struggling, shoving against his chest, before he presses one hand against her mouth, silencing her exclamation of fear and surprise before it can even be vocalized. Her innocent blue eyes widen over his hand as he speaks before she's shoved back against the mattress of her bed, the feel of his hand on her arm and leg sending revolted shivers through her lithe body. She does the first thing that comes into her mind and bites as hard as she can on the fleshy part of his palm, right below his thumb, as she continues to shove at him. Mira's thrashing legs kick her comforter the rest of the way off the bed, making it hard for him to reach between her thighs, though not impossible.
Her bite causes him to curse and remove his hand, allowing her to let out a small scream before he backhands her. She groans softly as her head spins, her chest heaving being the only movement of her body as she blinks slowly, this being the first time in years that Tony had laid a hand on her. His hand once again covers her mouth as he shoves the other between her legs and beneath the hem of her night shirt, the tip of his middle finger running against the outside of her panties. Unable to speak, she slowly shakes her head from side to side, shoving at his arm weakly and closing her legs tightly, NONONONO... Please, God, no...
Only silence answers her pleas before she squeezes her eyes shut and speaks his name inside her head for the first time in years, hoping he was close enough to hear her, Azekial... Please, help... Tony's lips find her neck and he slobbers a kiss there as he begins working his middle finger against her clit, which only causes her to begin thrashing more to get away from him. Azekial! Help me!

Azekial threw his head back and roared, unable to contain his anger anymore when he watched Tony slap her. The lights flickered out on the street before pitching her block in total darkness, the only light coming from the houses. His tail twitched behind him as he watched Tony start to molest his Mira. He prayed to Lucifer himself to hear Mira's voice and it seemed that his prays were answered a heartbeat later. Her voice filled the air, his name her cry. He grinned dangerously as smoke filled the room.
Throughout the house, the lights flickered, walls groaned as they vibrated slightly. Tony stopped long enough to look up and around, the noise stopping him in his tracks. At first, he was unaware of anything until he noticed how freezing her room had become. Before Tony could see him, Azekial moved to Mirajane's side and pulled a blanket up and around her. He pressed his lips to her hair and breathed against it.
"I'm here sweet Mira. I have heard your cry. This monster will pay for what he has done to you, you have my word." He whispered to her before stepping between her and Tony who at that point, had taken a couple steps back. When he looked back at Mirajane, he was greeted by the sight of the large, 6'2" demon, tail tip resting in Mira's lap, wings unfurled enough to hide her. Tony looked up into the eyes of the large demon and whimpered before scrambling to the door.
He grinned darkly as he willed the door shut, slamming it in the man's face. Tony quickly turned to face Azekial, eyes wide in fear. He blinked and the demon stood before him, his hand wrapping around the man's neck, squeezing lightly.
"Please.... don't hur...."
"You dare beg for mercy? You dare ask for mercy after attacking an innocent girl? You are not worthy of mercy. You are not worthy to walk this earth. When I am done with you, it will be death that you beg me for, not mercy." Azekial growled, a mouth of sharp teeth smiling at him.
Calming his expression, Azekial glanced at Mirajane. "Leave the room Mira dear. I do not want one such as you to witness this, please." He said, voice soft, comforting. He was unaware of her mother standing behind the door, listening.
He turned his attention back to Tony who was clawing at his hand. He grinned as he tightened his grip, nails puncturing skin. The warmth of fresh blood thrilled him, his tail swaying in joy. "I will enjoy this greatly." He growled before taking his other hand and running in it through Tony's gut. He wrapped his fingers around Tony's organs and twisted, getting drunk off the man's anguished cries.
Due to the smoke that clung to the floor, as the blood poured, it did not reach the carpet. Azekial twisted his organs a few more times before removing his hand and throwing the man against the wall. At that moment, it was evident that the demon prince was intent on killing the man. He made sure to keep the smoke heavy so that blood didn't get anywhere. He watched as Tony gripped his arm and held a hand over his stomach.
As he went to take a step towards him, the door flew open and Mira's mother jumped on him, a knife going into his back. He flinched slightly before looking back at the woman. He could smell alcohol on her and frowned. With a simple shrug and push of his wings, he knocked her off, making her fall onto Mira's bed. He turned to look at her and shook his head.
"You are just as guilty for Mira's torture, but I do see a chance for change for you. I will give you one chance to change your life around or...." He waved his hand, filling the woman's mind with a glimpse of the hell she would live with otherwise. Her screams filled the air, the sound music to his ears. However, the vision quickly dissipated, the screams turning to tears as Azekial's attention was torn to Tony who made a run for the door.
The demon quickly lunged and grabbed the man spinning him around and running his hand straight through his chest, past his ribs and grabbing his heart. Tony choked on his scream as his face twisted with pain. "You made another mistake Tony. Shall you forever suffer in hell." He growled before crushing the man's heart. Azekial closed his eyes and smiled as his magic quickly grabbed onto Tony's soul and took it for his own. Releasing the now dead man's heart, he released him, his body swallowed by the smoke as it fell.
Azekial took a deep breath and closed his eyes as his wings bellowed out a bit, his hands held out as he called back the veil that he had placed over the house. He stood by the door and willed himself to calm down before he faced Mirajane.

Mira immediately notices the flickering lights, the walls groaning, the smoke, the temperature drop in her room, and she smiles beneath Tony's hand before she's pulled away from him and her comforter is wrapped around her. She closes her eyes and sighs softly as she hears his voice, his body firm against her back and making her remember the first night she had ever met him. She had thought it was a dream in the morning when she had woken up, but he had still been there and had promised his eternal protection. A low whimper passes through her lips as he moves away before she opens her eyes and watches him confront her stepfather, trying to peer past him to see the look on Tony's face as her fingers trace the tip of his tail in her lap.
The sound of the door slamming shut causes her to jump slightly before his tail leaves her hands and lap and he's in front of the man who had married her mother. She slowly licks her lips as she goes up onto her knees on her bed, her heart hammering inside her chest as she watches his fingers curl around her stepfather's throat. Mira snarls as he tries to beg for his life before the dangerous note in Azekial's voice causes a delicious shiver to move along her spine, goosebumps rising on her arms and thighs before he turns to her and tries to make her leave. She steps off the bed and shakes her head, "No... I want to stay..." Her tone is low, but her voice is firm as her blue eyes move to her stepfather and she clutches the blanket more firmly around her body.
Mirajane remains standing at the side of her bed and wrapped in her blanket, watching as he returns his attention back to Tony, a grin of her own forming on her face as she watches the worthless man claw at her protector's hand. His words give her no warning as he shoves his hand into Tony's stomach, making her jump with the force with which he does it. Gripping the blanket against her chest, she watches... Unable to take her wide eyes away from the gory scene unfolding in front of her as Azekial twists his hand inside her stepfather. Her knees suddenly buckle, and she sinks to the floor, still enraptured by what she's seeing, his cries piercing her ears.
The door slamming against the wall pulls her gaze away from Tony to see her mother jump on her protector's back. "MOTHER! NO!" As her mother lands on her bed after the demon prince shrugged her off, Mira jumps up and puts herself between Azekial and her mother. "No." Her voice is firm as she stares into his eyes, her mother's screams causing her to flinch. "It's not her fault... Not really... She didn't know what to do."
She turns away from him as his attention is torn away by Tony's attempt to run out the door. Climbing onto the bed, she moves towards her mother, wrapping her arms around her and rocking slightly as she lets her cry. Mira makes small shushing noises as she blocks out the sounds for her mother by covering her ears, her body preventing her mother from seeing the death of her second husband.
The second her room began warming back up, she looks over her shoulder at Azekial, a bone deep sadness in her bright dark blue eyes and she continues holding onto her mother until her crying stops and her breathing deepens. She turns away from him before slowly pulling away and laying her mother down, laying the comforter over her. Mirajane takes a deep breath before turning back around to look at him, her nightshirt once again covering everything it needed to cover, "Thank you, Azekial... I wasn't sure you would hear me."
Azekial slowly turned to face Mira and frowned. He was shocked to see she was still there. When she had told him to stop, to leave her mother alone, he hadn't really seen her. He was so blind with rage that he couldn't see her. He was happy though that she didn't get hurt from his rampage. Her words brought him out of his reprieve, and he smiled warmly at her.
Placing a warm hand on her cheek, he took a small step closer to her. "I told you my dear. I will always be here. I never left you. Even when you had no need for me, I was always there, always in the shadows watching over you." He whispered.
He bowed his head to press a kiss to the top of her's before a soft mewling sound distracted him. He looked over at her mother who was hugging her knees as she looked at the room around them. A sigh left his lips as Mirajane's words finally registered. "It may not have been her fault sweet Mira, but she didn't help what happened. She could...." He dropped the sentence, not wanting to upset his Mira. "I won't kill her, nor will I punish her mind again but," Azekial looked down at Mira. "I warn you now. If your mother lets another man hurt you, understand she will pay the consequences." He said.
Stepping away from Mira, he went over to her mother and placed a gentle hand on her head. A minute later and the older woman fell over, breathe evening out as she slept. "I removed any memory of what she may have seen. She will wake in the morning feeling as if she just had a bad dream." He said. "To her, she will think that Tony left on a business trip." Having said that, the demon effortlessly scooped the woman into his arms before muttering a silent spell, removing any sign that there was an attack. "I will be right back." He said before taking her mother to her room and tucking her into bed.
A minute later and he was back in Mira's room, sitting on the windowsill as his red eyes watched her, waiting for anything to happen.
Mira can't stop the blush that darkens the skin of her cheeks or her body from leaning towards him as he touches her cheek and moves closer. She closes her eyes and listens to his voice as she breathes in his scent, a scent that is completely unique to him and one that she hasn't caught a whiff of since he had first saved her. His words, the way he whispers them, and the soft kiss to the top of her head causes a small shiver to move down her spine before the mewling sound causes her to jump and spin around.
She had been so sure her mother was asleep, but she's been known to be wrong before. Mirajane moves towards the bed and her mother before his words make her turn back to him, "She could what? Fight them off? Be single for the rest of her life? My mother is a kind woman, but even kind people have their limits. Besides, that man," She speaks the words with disgust as she looks at the last spot she had seen Tony. "Only touched me once, when he first married my mom..."
She sighs softly as she turns back to her mother, pushing back a strand of her mother's dark locks, yet one more difference she had from the woman who had birthed her. "You don't have to worry about her not being able to protect me, Azekial... I'm moving out tomorrow anyway." She steps back as he moves up to the bed, watching with her unique blue eyes as he pushes her mother into sleep. "Thank you... I don't want her to remember any of this... Though eventually I'll have to figure out something to tell her when Tony doesn't come back from his 'business trip'..." Mira's voice trails off as she nods slightly when he picks her mother up and walks out of the room.
She stares out the door for a moment, nibbling on her bottom lip before crawling onto her bed and sitting in the middle of it with her legs crossed. Mira watches him come back into her room, spinning in the middle of her bed as he walks over to the windowsill and sits down. Meeting his gaze, the corners of her lips curl up into a small smile, "Are you planning on sitting there for the rest of the night?" She tilts her head slightly, a few strands of her silver hair moving into her face though she doesn't bother to push them back behind her ear. "Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I'm probably going to be up for the rest of the night cause I'm wide awake now."
Finally breaking eye contact with him, she looks down at her hands, fingers fiddling with the hem of her night shirt before she stops them and suddenly moves to the head of her bed. She leans over to grab her book and switch on her bedside lamp, giving him a peak of her crimson panties before she sits back up. Grabbing her comforter, she covers her lap and opens her book, easily falling into the story if he doesn't talk or do anything.
Azekial flashed her a smile at her words. He watched her carefully, a devil grin flashing across his lips at the flash of her crimson panties. A dark dirty thought ran through his mind, and he quickly pushed the thought away. Now was not the time to fantasize, especially not about her. When she settled back down, hiding herself from view, he rose to his feet and walked over to the bed. He sat down next to her and leaned back against the wall as he looked at the book in her hands. It wasn't uncommon for him to rest on the bed with her though he tried not to make a habit of it. He was a MALE demon after all.
The demon ran a gentle hand over her hair, smoothing the knots out as he went. He hummed softly before he finally spoke. "Where do you plan to go tomorrow? Where is it that we will be going my dear?" he asked, curious about her plans. It was obvious that her comment of moving was news to him. Even though he stayed with her this entire time, he wasn't aware of everything that happened or everything that she had planned. He wanted to stay with her at all times and he was hoping with all his black little heart that he could go with her, wherever it was she was going.
With her head tilted down slightly, the curtain of her silver hair hides the smile that curls up the corners of her lips as he takes a seat beside her on her bed. The reaction his touch causes in her has her confused, she had never thought that he, of all people, would ever cause this kind of reaction in her; breathing labored, heart pounding, the feeling that if she moved to suddenly or too fast, she'd become unraveled. She keeps her eyes on her book as he continues removing the knots from her long, silver hair but has lost her spot and can't focus with him so close. Mira swallows quietly and licks her lips as she closes her eyes, listening to him hum and trying desperately to quiet her pounding heart, knowing that if she calmed her heart, she would breathe easier.
Upon hearing his questions, she places the bookmark back inside the book, closes it, and sets it in her lap, taking a deep breath and opening her eyes before lifting her head and turning it slightly to look at him, "I talked to my best friend last night and he's offered to let me stay with him until I can find a job and a place of my own."
Mirajane suddenly looks away from him, but not before he would catch the rush of blood to her cheeks, the blush further darkening tan skin. What is wrong with me?! He's been in my life for years, albeit I haven't seen hide nor hair of him since that first night, but I've always felt as if he's always been there... Taking a deep breath, she lets it out on a sigh before grabbing her book and tossing it onto her bedside table, knowing that even if he didn't say anything, she wouldn't be able to focus with him right next to her.
As Azekial pet her hair, he could hear her heartbeat quickening. He bit back a chuckle as he listened to her breathe and attempt to calm her heart. When she answered him, he bit back the urge to growl. Over the years, he had grown protective, almost possessive of her. He guarded her soul and heart from other demons and humans who meant her harm. He knew that he had to accept the fact that she would turn to another man, especially a human man. He couldn't let his fantasies and dreams of having her for his own get his hopes high. He was a demon after all, and humans never fell in love with demons. He gave her a kind smile, hiding his chuckle at her blush.
"That is very nice of him. Hopefully it works out well and you can get your own place quickly." He said. "Just remember, I'm always here if you need me my dear." He added.
His red eyes followed her movements, watching her put the book down. He flashed a playful smile. "What's wrong? I'm not distracting you, am I?" he asked, his tone light and playful. He chuckled lightly before rising to his feet, his hand sliding down her hair and coming to a rest on her shoulder. "You should lay down and get your rest. If you need, I can help you go to sleep." He stated. "I feel you have a long day ahead of you." He stood over her, his eyes gentle, long slender tail swaying and curling behind him.
Mirajane nods slightly at his comment, her blue eyes staying focused on the bed in front of her as her heart continues to beat rapidly. "I'm hoping to have a job within a week and a place of my own within the month... But sometimes things don't work out that way." She gives a small chuckle before looking up at him, "Oh, and you don't have to worry about protecting me from him. First off, he's gay. And second, he's the sweetest guy I've ever met." A brighter blush spreads across her cheeks at his questions before she looks away again, "Nothing's wrong... and no, you're not distracting me..." She tucks her hair behind her ears, refusing to look at him because of the fact that her heart is beating faster than normal once again and she's having a bit of trouble breathing normally.
As he stands up, she suddenly turns and throws her arms around his waist, her face hidden against his stomach, "I don't want you to put me to sleep like my mother... But please don't leave." Her voice is muffled against him as her fingers grip the back of his shirt. He would feel her lips move but he wouldn't be able to hear anything really, except that she was whispering something. Behind him, through the window, the sky would begin to lighten as the sun slowly came up, revealing that the whole thing with Tony had happened closer to dawn then either of them had known.

Her words about her friend did comfort him but he was still on edge. It wasn't him he was worried about so much as other people. He shook the thoughts away as he focused on her. He chuckled at her response, a hand on her back to try and help her calm down.
As he straightened up, he flinched, almost falling to the bed as her arms wrapping around him unbalanced him. He looked down with wide eyes, wings unfurled slightly before he placed a gentle hand on her head. He could tell she was talking, could feel her lips moving but her words were muffled. He went to question her again when he felt weak warmth on his back. He looked over his shoulder and saw the sun beginning to rise. His wings drooped a bit. He was hoping she would have had a chance to sleep after what had happened, but it seemed it would not be that way.
Azekial stood there, stroking her hair. He took joy in standing there and simply petting her, any chance to touch one he coveted greatly. He silently whispered to the shadows, hiding himself from everyone but her. In a few minutes her mother would wake, and he didn't want to cause any more trouble with his presence. He looked down at Mirajane and smiled sadly.
"The sun rises my dear. I can stay if you wish, all you have to do is ask." He whispered.

Upon hearing that the sun was rising, Mira suddenly releases him and jumps off her bed. She moves over to the windows and throws the curtains closed, throwing her room back into semi-darkness. She holds onto the last pair of curtains for a while, jumping slightly as she hears the door to her mother's room opening then closing. Her mother's soft footsteps walk down the hall before stopping in front of her door, where her mother knocks softly before opening the door a crack, "Mira, dear, are you up?"
"I'm up, mom... But I don't feel good. I was thinking of going back to sleep for a little while, if that's okay." Mira continues to grip the curtains and look at them instead of turning around. "Of course, dear. You rest, I'll make you something simple to eat in a little while." The door closes before Mira turns around and looks at Azekial.
She remains by the window for a few moments before moving towards him and the bed slowly, "I don't have much to pack up and Ethan isn't expecting me until tonight..." Her voice comes out in a soft whisper before she stops in front of him, her gaze focused on his chest. "Stay... Please." She finally looks up at him, her startlingly blue eyes pleading. "You don't have to stay long, just until I fall asleep... Unless you want to stay that is." Turning away from him, she climbs into bed, laying her head on her pillow and pulling the comforter over herself.

Azekial watched her, turning around to keep his eye on her. When she stayed at the window for a moment, he frowned. He was worried about her but before he could speak, her mother was at her door. He looked over, slightly surprised that he didn't hear her wake. He shook his head, not too concerned about the thought. Once she was gone, he turned back to Mira and watched her move towards him. When she came to a stop in front of him, he reached out and placed a gentle hand against her hair.
"Don't worry my dear. I will stay until you send me away." He replies, his deep voice low and soft. He let his hand fall as she stepped away and crawled into bed.
The demon prince helped the small woman into bed, helped pull the blankets up around her. He sat down on the bed next to her, a wing coming around to drape over her a bit. His wing claws move slowly as if petting her as he stroked her hair. "Get some sleep dear Mira. I will be here when you wake." He whispered, leaning down and pressing a kiss to her temple.
He followed through with his words, staying by her as she lay in bed. He didn't even move when her mother brought her something to eat though he did check her mother's psyche, making sure she wasn't damaged in any way.

After Azekial sat down on the bed next to her, she laid her head on his lap before closing her eyes, laying diagonally across her bed with one hand between her cheek and his leg. Mirajane lets out a soft sigh after yawning, having not realized how exhausted she was until this moment. Soon after his whispered promise of staying with her, she nods off into a dreamless sleep, her breathe even and slow.
A few hours later, around noon, her mother comes in with a bowl of soup and a glass of orange juice on a tray. "Mirajane." She sets the tray on the bedside table, wondering how her daughter can sleep in such a position before sitting down and gently shaking her awake. "I brought you some lunch, dear."
Mira blinks her eyes open and yawns before slowly sitting up, having barely moved since she fell asleep. "Lunch? Is it noon already?" She yawns again as her mother sets the tray on her lap.
"Yes, dear. How are you feeling?"
At the smell of the soup, her stomach growls and she laughs softly. "Hungry but better."
Her mother smiles as she nods. "Alright, just leave the tray on your table when your done and I'll get it later. You may be feeling better, but I still want you to rest."
"Ethan's expecting me by tonight though and I still have to pack up all my stuff."
A stern look moves over her mother's face. "I understand that, but if you don't get enough rest you'll start feeling poorly again. Besides, it's not like he's going anywhere." Her mother leans over to place a gentle kiss on her forehead. "I'll give him a call while you eat and see if he wouldn't mind waiting till tomorrow for you to move in, alright?" Knowing that arguing with her mother will get her nowhere, Mira just nods before going back to eating her lunch.
The entire time her mother is in the room, she has to fight not to glance at Azekial, knowing it would freak her mother out if she caught her staring at nothing. Once she leaves, however, her blue eyes immediately find him in the dim lighting of her room and she smiles, "See? My mom isn't that bad of a person." With a soft chuckle she finishes her lunch before yawning again. "Ugh... I'm still so tired..." Without another word, she lays back down and drops back off to sleep, her head once again in his lap if he hadn't gotten up when she was eating.

The prince was satisfied that her mother was in decent health as she spoke to her daughter. He listened intently to both women before her mother walked out and he could hear her calling Mirajane's friend. He looked down and gave her a small smile. "You are right, she is not that bad of a person." He said, not wanting to argue with his Mira. He sat next to her in silence as she ate.
Azekial had fallen into a trance as she ate, red eyes glazing over as he focused on the silent demonic words that ran through his mind. Her words of being tired pulled him back and he looked down at her as she laid her head down. He smiled down at her as he continued to pet her, his wing draped over her.
As Mirajane slept, he fell back into a sort of trance. His eyes glazed over, giving him a look that anyone would mistake as death. In his mind, he spoke ancient words, spun spells, added security to the grounds. During his trance, a very small bird-like demon appeared in Mira's room. It cocked its head as it looked over the sleeping girl before jumping onto Azekial's leg.
He was immediately pulled from his trance and looked down at the small demon. He gave it a small smile before nodding. The two fell into a quite conversation before a wave of Azekial's hand sent it away. Alone with her once more, he looked down at her, tangling his fingers in her hair. He sighed as fantasies filled his mind. Oh, how he wanted her to be forever by his side. He pushed the thoughts away, scolding himself for wanting such things. He was a demon prince after all, yet he had fallen head over heels for some frail human woman. A human woman who he would give his life to protect.

While he was fantasizing about her, she was actually dreaming of him. She turns over in her sleep, a content and soft smile curling up the corners of her full lips as she whispers his name, her fingers finding the hem of his shirt and gripping it tightly as she whimpers softly.
"Azekial..." Her voice is whisper soft as she says his name again before burying her face in his stomach. Her breathe is hot against his stomach as she breathes steadily, still deep inside her dream, with him. She lets out a soft whimper before a blush brightens her cheeks, only her left cheek visible to him. "Azekial... We can't..." She moans softly before turning her head so that he can't see anything of her face, her breathe now warm against his thigh. A soft murmur vibrates his thigh as she whispers again, her chest now heaving faster than normal. With a startled gasping moan, her eyes fly open, and she looks around, panting softly.
With a swallow, she pushes herself up to see that it's only been a couple hours since lunch, "Oh... I should get dressed and get packing..." She pushes herself away from her demon protector, hoping he doesn't see the bright blush still upon her cheeks. Mirajane moves to her closet and quickly dresses in a pair of bell-bottom jeans and a form fitting t-shirt. Her mother knocks on her door, opening it and coming in to tell her that Ethan said it was okay if she didn't show up until tomorrow, though she plans on still showing up tonight. "Thank you for call him, mom... But I'm feeling much better and think that I will be packed by tonight." With a sad look, her mother nods before leaving her room.
Mira sighs softly before beginning to pack up her room, which only takes a few hours since all she owns is in her room. Sitting on the edge of her now stripped bed, her startlingly blue eyes once again find Azekial, "Was I talking while I slept?" Just the thought that she was and that he heard her causes a blush to spread across her cheeks, she didn't want him to know just yet how much she actually wanted him.

He was pulled from his fantasies when he heard his name. He looks down to find her face in his stomach, though he knew he clearly heard her say his name. He tilted his head as he listened to her carefully, hoping she wasn't having nightmares. However, his worries were quickly dispelled when she whimpers softly, her brightening cheeks not escaping him. When she spoke again, he realized that she was dreaming. He tried to imagine what she was dreaming about, wondering if her dreams were anything like his fantasies. He watched her some more before she hid her face, her hot breath on his thigh. It sent a shiver up his spine at the feel of her breath on his skin, the fabric of his clothes thin enough that he could feel every bit of it. He feels her voice against his thigh though he didn't hear her words. Blood red eyes drifted down to her chest, seeing she was breathing faster. A minute later and she woke.
Azekial watched her closely, silently sniffing the air, hoping to catch a whiff of her emotions, anything that would indicate what she was feeling. When she started to change, he turned his head just enough to offer her privacy before looking at the door as her mother walked in. He listened to Mira talk to her mother, and he too felt himself grow sad. It was obvious that her mother loved her and that he was wrong to hold her mother responsible for what happened. She too was just as much a victim as his Mira. He looked down, his expression sad before the sound of her packing had him shaking his head. He rose to his feet and moved to the window, watching her pack for a few minutes before sinking into the shadows.
He moved through the house, effortlessly and found her mother. He watched her for a few minutes before coming up behind her and whispering into her ear. He whispered kind words, powerful words to encourage her, and help her become a stronger woman before making the phone ring. When she answered, he masked his voice to sound like a close friend of Tony's, telling her that Tony would not be coming back. Her mother heard nothing, the words and statements simply thoughts she had herself. He smiled slightly before vanishing and returning to Mirajane's room.
Just as he settled on the windowsill, her mother knocked on the door. She was smiling, her expression irritated but happy. "Mira? I know you are leaving, but I think you should know. I just found out that Tony won't be coming back. Apparently, his business trip isn't a business trip at all. I just got a call from a good friend of his and he said that Tony has left town to see another woman." She stated. "Tony doesn't plan on coming back. That's okay. We don't need him. We are two strong, independent women, right dear? I am going to go and fix a small drink. If you would like, when you are all packed, I can give you a ride to your friend's house before I celebrate too hard." She said with a happy giggle. She then turned and left, leaving Mira to finish her packing.
Once she was finished packing, Azekial looked over at her, watching her sit down. He chuckled at her question, seeing how she blushed so. "I'm afraid you were my dear. I didn't hear everything you said though." He stated. "I take it you were having a good dream?"

At his sniff he would notice the faint scent of her arousal along with a mix of emotions ranging from confusion to excitement and even embarrassment. Mirajane notices him turn away slightly as she changes, having not thought that he would do that, having not even thought about it at all until she saw him move out of the corner of her eye. A faint smile curls up the corners of her lips as she packs before her mother walks in to give her the news that Tony wouldn't be coming back ever again.
Her startlingly blue eyes shift momentarily to where Azekial sits before giving her mother a dazzlingly happy smile, "Well, I'm glad he won't ever be back, mother... He wasn't good enough for you in the first place." Walking over, she gives her mother a tight hug. "We are independent and strong women, but you've always been one. I'm one because of you." She pulls back from her mother and nods slightly at her mother's offer to drive her to her friend's house, "Thanks, mom, I'd appreciate that." Mira watches her mother leave before returning to her packing.
Mira's blush brightens when he tells her she was talking in her sleep, feeling only slightly assured that he didn't hear everything she said as she shifts on the bare bed. "Oh... Ummm... Yes, I guess it was a good dream." Memories from her dream pass through her mind and she quickly looks away from him before standing up and walking to her door. "I better tell mom I'm ready to leave..." Quickly opening her door, she leaves him where he sits to go and fetch her mother.
While downstairs, she phones Ethan to let him know that she would be over in an hour or two, depending on how long it took to pack all her things into her mother's car then goes in search of her mother. She finds her in the living room, sipping from a clean wineglass, "Is that still your first drink, mom?" The woman nods as she turns a beaming smile on her daughter, though a faint sadness lies beneath. "Alright, well... I'm ready to go. I've already called Ethan to let him know that I'll be there in an hour or two."
Setting her glass down, her mother stands and walks over to her, wrapping her in a warm hug. "I know you want to go, but I wish you would stay for a while longer..." Tears spring up in both their eyes as they hang onto one another before her mother steps back and wipes her tears away.
"I won't be far away, mom... I can come visit often."
"Oh, I know... And you better come visit often, cause that car out there is yours now."
Mira stares at her mother in shock for a few moments before shaking her head. "How will you get to work? Or go to the store? Mom, I can't take your car."
Her mother shushes her by placing a finger against her lips, "Hush now. I was planning on buying a new car and giving you that one anyway, so don't worry about me."
She nods once before they both head upstairs to retrieve her bags.
It takes them about half an hour to pack all her bags into her new car, "Now, you call me as soon as you get to Ethan's, alright? I don't want to have to worry about you while I'm celebrating."
Giggling softly, Mira nods, "Alright, as soon as I get there, I'll call... I won't even wait till I get my bags inside."
They hug each other once more before Mirajane gets behind the wheel and drives off, having had her driver's license for a couple years now. Her mother watches until she's out of sight then goes back inside to call upon some old friends that Tony never liked, planning on celebrating with them.
It takes Mira about an hour to reach her friend's house and just as she promised, she calls her mother before even unpacking her car. Her mother doesn't answer so she leaves a message that she's sure she will get in the morning when she wakes up. That done, she unpacks her things into his spare room before going out to spend some much-needed time with her best friend, all the while aware of Azekial's presence.
