Khichdi and Sarabhai V/s Sarabhai producer JD Majethia turns 52 today; he is famous for his comedy works, as no one can forget his character “Aye Hemansuuu.” He vows to continue the same, but this time he has a clause added to it. He says that he will work with a cause that is to make people laugh so that they have a better mental state.
While he was talking candidly about his upcoming project Wagle Ki Duniya — Nayi Peedhi Naye Kissey, he said, “What we collectively faced last year was both challenging and disturbing, and a lot of people from all over the world are still facing that. Unfortunately, this experience has affected our mental sanity and I wanted to do something to bring a smile on people’s face. As a filmmaker I can do that with our comedy shows.”
His new show will be featuring Sumeet Raghavan in the lead role; Wagle Ki Duniya — Nayi Peedhi Naye Kissey is supposed to take forward the legacy of RK Laxman’s original sitcom that released in 1988. He also added, “In 2020, most people celebrated their birthday on a zoom call. But thankfully I have the opportunity to at least meet my friends, go out with family and celebrate with my team of Wagle Ki Duniya on the sets,” adds Majethia. He propagates that the mantra to be happy is ‘eat well, read well and watch well.’
Adding to his words, he joyfully added- “Which is why when Aatish (Kapadia, co-producer) and I were brainstorming about our next show post-Bhakharwadi, we chose to make Wagle Ki Duniya as it has all the elements that we are talking about right now. Even with Sarabhai V/s Sarabhai and Khichdi, we have met so many people who say that they still watch these shows whenever they are upset. And not only the fans but even big film stars and politicians have said that. I remember late Rishi Kapoor ji had once told us that he loves Khichdi and Sarabhai. He said whenever he felt low he would watch Khichdi: The Movie.”
While in talks with him, not mentioning Khichidi or Sarabhai, it will be a waste – talking about the same, he said, “We really wish to do it. Aatish and I have a plan for Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai Season 3, but we need to discuss that with the channel and the actors first. We definitely are going to put in a lot of efforts for the next seasons of Sarabhai and Khichdi, both.”
JD is mostly seen in films and shows where he acts in his productions. However, the award-winning TV actor informs that he is now open to different kinds of roles from other film or show makers as well. “Some people think that I can only do comedy roles or play Gujarati parts, but I can do much more than that and I hope this new look of mine changes that perspective about me. In fact, not many know that before becoming a producer I had modelled for more than 85 brands. To be honest, I really want to do a film with Prabhas and play a negative part. Maybe have a fight scene too with him in the film. Imagine, if I can get into a brawl with Bahubali then I can do anything,” says Majethia and laughed.
