PPF is a term used for paint protection film. It is a thin, clear, and self-healing film which is applied to the exterior of the vehicle to give them extra protection. Many people think that it is a transparent film that is applied on the vehicles just the way protective screen covers are applied on the mobiles, but this is not true.
There are many car coatings options available in the market. But the two most popular options are paint protection film and ceramic coating. These two usually confuse the people and are thus considered the same by many people. However, they both are different from each other. PPF is made up of a material known as thermoplastic polyurethane. It is famously known as clear bra in Las Vegas. But ceramic coating on the other side is a liquid polymer. Ceramic coating is just like sunscreen for vehicles.
Quality:-
As compared to ceramic coatings, PPF is thicker. They also have a chemical composition that has a self-healing nature. This self-healing nature helps the film to returns to its original form even after getting scratched or damaged. With this self-healing quality, PPF absorbs the rock chips, hard water spots swirl marks, and small scratches, without being permanently disfigured. However, a ceramic coating does not have such ability. They do not eliminate the risk of scratches, water spots, swirl marks, etc. They just create a hydrophobic surface.
Removable:-
When a film gets highly damaged due to scratches, it needs to be replaced after some time. For this paint protection films turns out beneficial as they are removable. The damaged panels can be removed even without the need of any professional. But compare to this, ceramic coatings are tough to remove and they don’t come off easily. Even for removing them, you have to take the help of a professional detailer. That also cost much.
Installation:-
The installation time taken by the paint protection films is much less than that of ceramic coatings. Along with this, these clear bra in Las Vegas is preferred due to their durability, as they can easily last for 10-12 years. But the ceramic coatings don’t last more than 5 years. As the protection provided by ceramic coatings is limited so they don’t help much in retaining the resale value of the car and keeping it new. However, PPF is best at this, as it protects the exterior of the car from environmental as well as superficial damage.
