London’s new rail line, the Elizabeth line, will cost £18bn and is the most significant infrastructure project ever undertaken by structural engineers in the UK. The Elizabeth line stretches more than 100km from Reading and Heathrow in the west through central tunnels across to Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east.
