Are you planning to start your career as a minibus driver? All you need is a D1 licence training. Completing this course will turn your dream into reality. But the main thing is finding the best driving school. There are many options available; how will you find the best one?
In this article, you will learn what to check when looking for the best driving school.
Essential Things You Need to Check to Find the Best Minibus Driving School
Learn Whether They Help with the Paperwork
Before you even touch a steering wheel, you need a medical check and a provisional D1 licence. Some schools just tell you to "sort it out yourself," while the best ones have a starter pack. They might even book the doctor for you at a cheaper rate. If they aren't helpful with the boring admin stuff, it’s a sign they might be a bit disorganised.
Check the Training Vehicle
You’ll be taking your test in the same type of vehicle you train in. Make sure the school uses a proper, modern minibus that meets the DVSA standards (usually something like a long-wheelbase Ford Transit). If the van looks like it’s held together with duct tape and hope, run the other way. You want to learn something reliable and easy to handle.
Look at the Pass Rates (and Reviews)
Every school says it is the best, but the numbers don't lie. Ask them what their recent pass rate is. Anything over 80% is a great sign. Also, check Google or Facebook reviews. Look for mentions of "patient instructors" or "first-time passes." Avoid places where people complain about "hidden costs" or "shouting teachers."
One-to-One Training vs. Sharing
Some schools put two or three students in the van at once. While this can be cheaper, it means you spend half your day sitting in the back watching someone else mess up a reverse park. If you want to pass quickly, look for 1-to-1 training. It means the instructor’s eyes are on you the whole time, and you get way more wheel time.
