The second round of the 2021 Open Championship — or British Open, as some refer to it in America — is underway at Royal St. George’s Golf Club in Sandwich, Kent, England. This is the final major of the season, seventh since August, and it’s the 149th playing of the tournament, with St Andrews Links set to host next year.

2021 U.S. Open champion Jon Rahm entered as the favorite at 7-1, according to William Hill Sportsbook, but he is nowhere near contention after a difficult first round. Instead, it is Louis Oosthuizen, Jordan Spieth and Brian Harman atop the leaderboard with Oosthuizen holding a one-shot lead on the Americans. After second-place finishes in each of the last two majors, Oosty is looking to keep up his tremendous level of play through the end of the week on the way to winning his first major — and hoisting his first Claret Jug — since 2010.

With an amended schedule to the PGA season, the Open Championship will serve as the final major in 2021 after the PGA Championship moved to May. Fans will also be allowed to return to the link for the event, with about 30,000 expected to attend.
