Until Aug. 31, financial donations to the Full Bellies = Happy Hearts campaign will be matched – up to $20,000 – by the Allan Bush from CIBC Wood Gundy in Waterloo. “If it can help inspire others to get involved and give back, that’s fantastic,” says team lead Allan Bush.
The generosity of donors in the campaign’s first two years – doubling the original half-million meal donation target in the very first year – fuels the CIBC team’s altruism. And the impact the food bank has in the community – distributing more than 4.6 million pounds of fresh, frozen and non-perishable food to those in need during the pandemic – encourages them to get involved every year.
“Supporting the Food Bank of Waterloo Region is about raising awareness of local food insecurity, engaging and inspiring the younger generation, and reducing shame and stigma around food bank use,” says Bush.
