Shinhan Bank in Incheon has already beaten Samsung Life Insurance in third place twice.

It is the third win of the season.

Shinhan Bank defeated Samsung Life Insurance 43-35 in an away game of the 2023-24 Women's Basketball League held at Yongin Indoor Stadium in Gyeonggi Province on Sunday. With the victory, Samsung Life Insurance had three wins (14 losses) in the season. Although it was still the lowest in the ranking, it clearly achieved its first win of the new year in a different way from the first half. On the other hand, Samsung Life Insurance, whose winning streak ended, recorded eight wins and nine losses in the season, falling below the 50 percent win rate again.

Shinhan Bank led its team win with ace Kim Sonia scoring a double double with 12 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. Veteran Lee Kyung-eun had eight points and three rebounds, while Kim Tae-yeon (6 points and seven rebounds) and Jinyoung Kim (8 points and eight rebounds) helped.

Unlike Shinhan Bank, Samsung Life had no double-digit scorers. The best was that Keana Smith scored eight points, including two three-point shots, Lee Hae-ran scored nine points, three rebounds, and Bae Hye-yoon scored nine points and 10 rebounds.

Shinhan Bank grabbed the lead from the first quarter. Kim So-na and Kim Tae-yeon took the lead under the basket. After starting the first quarter with Kim's free throw, Kim Tae-yeon took the center stage under the basket. For Samsung Life, Kiana Smith hit the outside line, but Kim So-na kept the flow with good defense including stills. Shinhan finished the first quarter with a 17-14 lead with Kang Gye-ri's fastball and Lee Kyung-eun's consecutive goals.

Shinhan continued to preserve the lead afterwards. In the second quarter, Jinyoung Kim secured an off-fence foul against the opponent, and Beul scored to widen the lead. Lee then scored a base point, and Kim So-nai instantly widened the lead to nine points (27-18) with four consecutive points to end the first half.

While the low-scoring pattern remained unbroken, Shinhan Bank also took the mood in the third quarter. Kim Sonia, Kim Tae-yeon and Lee Kyung-eun scored one by one under the goal. The outside was Samsung Life Insurance's advantage, but the free throw did not listen. With both teams lacking sense of fieldwork, Kim Sonia scored at the last minute and Shinhan Bank finished the third quarter 39-27.

Shinhan Bank succeeded in locking down the loss and winning the game without a big twist in the fourth quarter. Jinyoung Kim beat Samsung Life Insurance's will with consecutive early goals. Samsung Life Insurance attempted to chase Bae Hye-yoon, Lee Hae-ran, and Lee Ju-yeon at the last minute with attacks under the basket. However, turnovers continued to occur, and eventually, Shinhan Bank ended the game with a victory without much change.
