Re: Foundry School
When I went to Hutch Tech,
we had full 4 year courses
of study in:
Computer Electronics (my choice)
Computer Science
Electrical Technology
Building and Design
Foundry
These courses included a full
Academic Core, with 4 years of
Math, and 4 years of English.
Classes were 45 minutes, 8 periods/day.
90 minutes of Technical Study per day.
5 days a week.
Additional Technical Electives were
required, I took 2 courses in Drafting,
and a year of Computer Science.
I fit 2 years of German in, too.
I had to take Electrical Drafting
in Summer School.
My German teacher survived Dachau.
A Modern Technical School could
be built around the Zilog Z80 8-bit
processor.
LittlFuse, Zilog's holding company,
has stopped taking orders for the Z80.
Sharp & Toshiba both make Z80 plug-compatible chips.
A REAL VOCATIONAL SCHOOL
could be based on this chip,
Including a Chip Foundry.
Or, perhaps one ED-Foundry per State,
with required hands-on field trips.
If a high-schooler could demonstrate
full knowledge of Z80 architecture,
AND had experience in a Chip Foundry
that makes new chips,
Then those high-school kids
could land jobs anywhere...
And could start-up new companies,
like Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and
Bill Gates did.
New Companies in America.
