WHAT IS GENOME ANNOTATION?

Introduction

Hello Everyone, This is the Tech Know Tamil website for free online content covering multiple contents around us. This website is just for exploring more information on all different topics. You will find easy solutions to many issues with simple explanations. In this, we will understand Genome annotation and how it is involved in the biology of an organism.

Genome annotation is the process of identifying any functional element along the DNA sequence of a genome, yet at initial stages often focuses on genes. It is necessary because the sequence of DNA produces a series of unknown functions. Genome annotation is the process that evolved from the computational annotation of long protein-coding genes on single genomes(one per species). This increased resolution and inclusiveness of genome annotation (from genotype to phenotype) lead to precise insights into the biology of species, populations, and individuals alike. Genome annotation describes the function of the product of a predicted gene (through an Insilico approach).

This can be achieved using bioinformatics software with specific features, including Signal sensors. (e.g., TATA box, start and stop codon,poly-A signal detection), Content sensors (E.g., for G+C content- codon usage or dicodon frequency detection), Similarity detection (e.g., between proteins from closely related organisms, mRNA from the same organism, or reference genomes)...
