Elton John's performance at Glastonbury for his final UK show of his farewell tour marked the end of one of the greatest careers in British music history.

 

With a playlist that never ceased producing brilliant pop moments, the 76-year-old maestro gave his audience a masterclass in songwriting and stagecraft.

 

Bennie And The Jets, Tiny Dancer, Your Song, and I'm Still Standing were among the best hits played for the entire two hours.

 

I'm very happy to be here, he screamed to the crowd, adding, "I won't forget this at all."

 

Just after 21:00 BST, Elton took the stage and, as promised, promptly started singing Pinball Wizard, a song he hadn't performed in almost a decade as promised.

 

The Bitch Is Back was then performed crazily by him.

 

He looked out over the estimated 120,000-strong throng, taking it all in, pausing to catch his breath before raising his arms in gratitude.

 

I never thought I'd perform Glastonbury, and yet here I am, he said.

 

It's a really memorable and emotional occasion for me because this could be my final performance in England or Great Britain.

 

I'd better perform well and keep you entertained because you've been standing there for a while," he said.

Next to me in the crowd, a supporter cried, "Go on, you old sausage."
