Since ancient times, copying has been an integral part of research and development. Monks used quill pens and ink to copy every bit of literature to pass on information to the next generation.
The basic companion for the portable scanner is a laptop computer. Modern scanners use the power of a laptop to charge the scanner via a 2.0 USB connection. The scanner is approximately the same length as a 12-inch ruler. Some smaller models have dimensions of 2x2.5x12 inches.
