Francis Lui Yu-Tung, vice chairman of the Hong Kong-based casino operator, made the announcement in an interview on the sidelines of the ongoing Global Game Expo (G2E) Asia Trade Fair, according to a Tuesday report by the South China Morning Post (SCMP).
Louis, 61, told the newspaper that "millennials" are catching up with young customers who embrace technology and think differently. "These are things we try to understand more about making Macau competitive in the long run."
Hong Kong-listed Galaxy Entertainment Group Limited is one of six concessors who hold casino licenses from the authorities in their former Portuguese residence, responsible for the Galaxy Macao and Broadway Casino locations in Cotai Strip along with Starworld Macao properties on the Macau Peninsula.홀짝게임
The Macau casino market posted its last nine straight months of growth after a 26-month decline in terms of total gaming revenue, but Louis said it was too early to say whether the momentum was sustainable, despite calling the market's recent performance "strong" and "encouraging."
"The economic recovery over the past two months may be related to China's currency or liquidity situation," Louis, the sixth richest person in Hong Kong with more than $9 billion in personal wealth, told the South China Morning Post.
The newspaper reported that VIP gamblers who enjoy playing card games, including Baccarat, are behind Macau's rise to its current position as the world's gambling capital, but Louis explained that Macau casinos must target the Millennial Generation, which makes up people born between the early 1980s and the late 1990s, to "get ahead of the game."
"We know that these "thousands and thousands of generations" love devices and technology," Louis told the South China Morning Post. "It might be a different kind of game."
