Lithium battery as a power source for electric forklift trucks: Flash Batteries and Piazzalunga together in the first specialized workshop on lithium.
Coordinated by Marco Righi, Founder of Flash Battery, the first workshop on lithium batteries for the industrial sector was held at Piazzalunga headquarters.
Piazzalunga is active in the material handling sector. The company handles sales, assistance, and rental of forklift trucks and cleaning machines.
Piazzalunga's goal is to meet the needs of its customers, since its founding. Now, with lithium, companies can meet demands that were previously unmet.
During the workshop, problems related to the use of traditional lead-acid batteries were examined, which became a source of dissatisfaction for many users. These issues include long charging times (8-10 hours to fully charge) and the inability to use the battery when it is only partially charged.
Another important issue is the high maintenance cost.
Over the life of a lead-acid battery, the actual maintenance costs may exceed the cost of the battery itself. They include:
- Water charge
- The cost of removing accumulated acid and oxides
- Water demineralization system cost
- The cost of the ventilation system in the charging area
- Cost of space required for charging area
This cost is not often considered, which makes lead-acid technology seem less expensive.
In fact, when all of these factors are considered, lithium is on the balance economically advantageous, in addition to offering huge benefits in terms of performance and production efficiency. To know more here Lithium-Ion Forklift Battery Manufacturers.
