WHAT IS ICOSATHLON

Icosathlon is known as double decathlon. The decathlon is a summer sporting event that consists of ten track and field events over two days. The Olympic decathlon is a male event, the winner is often considered the unofficial greatest all-around athlete in the world. Icosathlon is an event which consists of 20 track and field events, including the 10 traditional decathlon events with 10 additional track and field events. Like in decathlon it is usually held over two days but with a rule that each day should have a pause of one hour. The first day of the Icosathlon includes 100m sprint, 5000m, 800m and 400m run, long jump, 200m hurdles, shotput, high jump, hammer throw and 3000m steeplechase. On the second day event includes 200m sprint, 3000m, 1500m and 1000m run, 110 hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, 400m hurdle, javelin throw and triple jump. 

 

Athletes receives a score based on their performance in each event, with the winner the athlete with the highest total score at the end of the two days. Each event is scored according to the decathlon scoring tables or, for non-decathlon events, the IAAF points tables. At the conclusion of each Icosathlon, the competitor with the highest point total is declared the winner.
