Professional baseball SSG Landers veteran Choo Shin-soo will play through the 2024

Through the SSG club on Wednesday, Choo said, "I felt my love for the baseball and the team, so I agonized over my career path with the club. Manager Lee also needed me and respected my (one-year extension) opinion," adding, "Next year's performance is important, but I want to contribute to the team by sharing my experiences and thoughts while training with younger Futures (second-tier) team whenever possible depending on the team situation."

Choo, whose annual salary in the 2023 season was 1.7 billion won, has agreed with his team to wear the captain's armband and sign the minimum annual salary (30 million won) to donate the entire salary. Choo, who is well known to the public, has donated 2.4 billion won (2.4 million U.S. dollars) over the past three years. He plans to end his career next year by giving away his signature on the uniform, holding special signings, and supporting amateur baseball. "The team will also add meaning to the player's sincere moves," SSG said.

Choo Shin-soo, who moved to the U.S. as soon as he graduated from Busan High School, played in 1,652 games for the Seattle Mariners, Cleveland Guardians, Cincinnati Reds, and Texas Rangers, recording a batting average of 0.275218 homers, 782 RBIs and 157 stolen bases. He has left the "first and best in Asia" modifiers in MLB history several times. He shines with the most home runs, the most RBIs and the first cycling hit (2015). Since the 2021 season, he has played in Korea as an SSG player. In Korea, he has recorded 0.260 49 homers, 168 RBIs and 46 stolen bases for three years.
