Talking about the popular beaches of Singapore, they can be divided into two broad groups — one, the beaches of Sentosa Island; and two, East Coast Beaches. Both groups are ancient, but Sentosa is more vibrant due to its immense popularity. Once a British military base and prisoner-of-war camp, Sentosa eventually developed into what it is today: an entertainment resort, home to hotels, golf courses, a universal Studio Park and a stunning beach of white sand. These beaches in Singapore are good for swimming and fun activities, but if you are looking for some seclusion and some fun camping, then the beaches on the east coast of Singapore are a better option. Whether you are looking for an active holiday or some quiet time under the sun, here is our list of the best beaches in Singapore.
1. Palawan Beach –
The gorgeous Palawan Beach on Sentosa Island is one of the best family beaches in Singapore with the finest white sand, clear blue water and a warm, relaxing atmosphere. Of Sentosa’s three beaches — Siloso, Tanjong and Palawan — the latter is often considered the most relaxing and is the only one that is kid-friendly.

The name “Palawan” was probably derived from the Malay word “Pahlawan”, which means warrior. This exotic beach was originally a rock, called Serembu Palawan. However, after the land reform, it was renamed Pulau Palawan, or simply, Palawan. Besides being a haven for swimmers, the beautiful Palawan Beach is home to a wide variety of spots ideal for kids and adults alike.
For a fun adventure, cross the rope bridge to the islet which is the “southernmost point of continental Asia”. Climb the watchtower to watch passing ships and get a bird’s-eye view of the coastline. The calm, turquoise lagoons here are also ideal for swimming and water sports. If you’re looking for some wet ’n’ wild fun, don’t miss sliding up and down the island’s newest water-themed attraction — HydroDash. Soak up the Mediterranean vibes at FOC Sentosa. This beach club brings a taste of the Mediterranean to the island. Inspired by the Barcelona beach scene, FOC seeks to convey the spirit of the Mediterranean with beach hammocks, cozy cabanas and even a pool deck in the outdoor area. Don’t miss beach volleyball pickup games as well as fitness boot camps.
